Chime filed its initial IPO registration statement in May 2025 and later completed its public offering that year. Its subsequent annual report disclosed Dallas Mavericks sponsorship payments of $11.2 million in 2024 and $11.5 million in 2023—not a verified $33 million total contract price. The filing provides a clearer account of the deal than the headline figure does.
How much did Chime pay the Dallas Mavericks?
Chime’s 2025 Form 10-K reports that it paid the Dallas Mavericks $11.2 million in sponsorship fees in 2024 and $11.5 million in 2023. The company describes a multi-year sponsorship agreement. Those yearly payment disclosures do not establish that the contract’s total value was $33 million, nor do they say that amount was paid in either year. Chime Financial’s 2025 Form 10-K is the source for the reported payments.
The filing also says a Chime board member held an executive role with the Mavericks during 2023 and 2024 and left that role in 2025. That connection is relevant context for the company’s related-party disclosure; it is not, by itself, evidence of wrongdoing.
When did Chime file for its IPO?
Chime filed its initial Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 13, 2025, then filed an amendment on June 2, 2025. The SEC filing index records both dates: initial S-1 and S-1/A amendment.

A registration filing is a step toward a public offering, not the offering itself. Chime’s later annual report confirms that it completed its IPO in 2025. The $25 billion valuation in the original headline should not be read as Chime’s current public-market value: the cited filings do not establish the source, date, or basis of that historical figure. A private-round valuation, an IPO price, and a public company’s market capitalization describe different things.
What happened to Chime after it filed?
Chime completed its IPO in 2025. In its annual report, the company reported $2.2 billion in revenue for the full year and 9.5 million active members at year-end. These are company-reported figures for 2025, not independent measures of future growth or performance. See Chime’s 2025 annual report.

IPO-related compensation affected second-quarter results
Chime’s second-quarter 2025 Form 10-Q reported $928.1 million in stock-based compensation expense and related payroll taxes. Of that amount, $885.8 million was associated with restricted stock units (RSUs). The filing links the charges to the IPO registration statement becoming effective and to liquidity-based vesting conditions. These IPO-period expenses are important context when reading the quarter’s reported results; they are not the same as recurring cash operating costs.
