On SalaryLeaks’ June 11, 2026 salary table, Wesley Fofana, Reece James and Moisés Caicedo share Chelsea’s highest listed wage for 2025/26: an estimated £200,000 a week each. These are estimates, not individual salary figures confirmed by Chelsea. Capology gives a substantially different answer, listing Raheem Sterling at £325,000 gross per week, so the ranking depends on which source and snapshot you use.

Why another source names a different highest earner
Capology’s Chelsea 2025/26 salary page lists Raheem Sterling as the highest-paid player, at an estimated £325,000 gross per week, or £16.9 million a year. Capology also states that its figures are estimates rather than official disclosures.
The discrepancy is material: SalaryLeaks’ later-updated table does not put Sterling among its 11 highest listed earners, while Capology names him at the top. Capology’s page URL carries a March 2025 publication parameter, earlier than SalaryLeaks’ June 2026 update. The available information does not establish whether the difference reflects an older roster snapshot, different inclusion rules, different estimates or another factor. The two rankings should not be combined as if they were one verified payroll.

What these wage estimates do—and do not—show
Football clubs do not routinely publish individual contract terms. SalaryLeaks explains that “In others, particularly European football, contract details are rarely disclosed officially” on its salary verification methodology page. It distinguishes reported contract information from estimates and says its figures are gross, before tax, unless otherwise stated.
- They are not official Chelsea payroll records. No inspected source provides signed contracts or a club disclosure confirming these individual amounts.
- They do not establish take-home pay. Gross wages are before tax, and the inspected sources do not provide enough detail to establish exact base salary, bonuses or other contract terms.
- They are source-specific rankings. The figures reflect each site’s estimates and the players it includes; the available pages do not explain the full reason for the different top earners.
How to read the season and squad context
The Premier League published its 2025/26 squad lists on September 12, 2025, after the summer transfer window closed. League rules allow a squad list of up to 25 players, with no more than 17 who do not meet the home-grown criteria; eligible Under-21 players are listed separately. This is a registration reference for the season, not evidence of what any Chelsea player earns.

For a direct answer based on SalaryLeaks’ later-updated table, Fofana, James and Caicedo are joint first at an estimated £200,000 per week. For a broader claim about Chelsea’s definitively highest-paid player, the public figures are not conclusive: Capology’s conflicting Sterling estimate prevents presenting one source’s ranking as an undisputed fact.
