Announced October 6, 2026, the lender-facing offering follows Checkr’s 2025 acquisition of Truework, its August 2026 acquisition of Truv, and a September 2026 partnership with Workday. The announcement describes product capabilities and company-reported figures; it does not establish independent performance results.
What Checkr says it added
Checkr’s expanded service is intended to help mortgage lenders verify borrower income, employment and assets across a wider range of financial profiles. The company describes its data sources as payroll, bank, employer and document-based. It says the offering now includes qualification for self-employment, rental income and other complex financial profiles alongside traditional employment income.
That distinction matters for borrowers whose income is not captured by a single employer payroll record. The announcement does not provide detailed eligibility rules or explain how each income type is evaluated, so it does not establish how a particular lender will treat a borrower’s records.
How Truv and Workday fit into the offering
Truv: consumer-permissioned data access
Checkr acquired Truv in August 2026. According to Checkr’s announcement, the acquisition gives lenders additional access to consumer-permissioned payroll and financial data for direct verification of income, employment and assets. The release does not detail the specific institutions or data connections supported, or the borrower workflow for granting permission.

Workday: participating-employer information
In September 2026, Checkr partnered with Workday to make verified income and employment information available through Checkr for participating employers. The announcement does not identify those employers or provide details on integration requirements or availability.
Truework: Checkr’s entry into mortgage verification
Checkr says it entered the mortgage market through its 2025 acquisition of Truework. The company presents the Truv acquisition and Workday partnership as developments that expand the data access and employer connections available through that business.

Why the announcement focuses on income beyond W-2 wages
Checkr frames the expansion around borrowers whose income does not follow a simple salaried-paycheck pattern. It cites figures it attributes to Truework’s 2026 analysis of approximately 300,000 mortgage applicant records: income instability affected 50% of applicants in 2022 and 62% in 2025, while the severity of income swings nearly tripled over that period. Checkr’s announcement gives no precise multiplier or underlying research materials, so these figures should be understood as reported by the company, not independently validated findings.
Checkr head of mortgage Randy Lightbody said the company had expanded its offering to give lenders “greater flexibility in how they verify and qualify borrower income.” Felicia Lee, head of mortgage solutions and customer success at Checkr, said borrowers do not always have a simple W-2 paycheck, while many verification processes were built around one. Those comments explain the company’s rationale; they do not specify lender underwriting rules or guarantee that a nontraditional income source will qualify for a loan.

What the reported performance figures do—and do not—show
Checkr reports that its verification coverage reaches more than 97% of U.S. workers and that its completion rate is 75%. These are Checkr-reported 2026 figures. The announcement does not define the measurement periods, denominators or calculation methods, and coverage should not be read as a successful-completion rate.
The release also cites a Stifel 2026 survey finding that the largest share of verification volume is shifting among firms processing more than 100,000 mortgages annually. Checkr supplies neither an exact share nor survey methodology. This is a survey result as reported in the company’s announcement, not a detailed measure of lender adoption of Checkr’s service.

What lenders should clarify before evaluating it
The announcement describes the direction of the offering but does not provide a technical specification, pricing, detailed qualification rules or customer adoption totals. A lender assessing the service would need to establish practical details directly with the vendor, including:
- Which income types and data sources are supported for the lender’s borrower population.
- How borrower permission is obtained and how verification fits into the application workflow.
- What “coverage” and “completion” mean, including the relevant populations, time periods and exclusions.
- Expected turnaround times and how exceptions or unavailable records are handled.
- Pricing, integration requirements and any lender-specific implementation constraints.
What borrowers should take from the announcement
The expansion is a lender-facing verification capability, not a change to mortgage approval standards announced for borrowers. Checkr says the offering is designed to handle income profiles such as self-employment and rental income, but the release does not say how any individual lender will document or qualify those sources. Borrowers should continue to follow their lender’s instructions about required records and verification steps.

Rate senior vice president of strategic development Brad Lando endorsed the service in the release, saying more data sources and faster verification mean lower costs and less manual work for lenders, while offering customers more choice and a smoother process. This is a customer-side endorsement included in Checkr’s announcement, not independent comparative evidence about cost, speed or borrower outcomes.
