But the claim that this made Cerebras a “post-legacy silicon AI winner” was ServeTheHome writer Patrick Kennedy’s 2023 thesis—not a formal ranking or an independently established performance result.
What was Cerebras Condor Galaxy 1?
CG-1 was an AI supercomputer project Cerebras announced with Abu Dhabi-based G42 in 2023. ServeTheHome described the project as worth more than $100 million and reported that Phase 1 was being deployed in Santa Clara. That initial phase was reported to include 32 Cerebras CS-2 systems and more than 550 AMD EPYC 7003 “Milan” CPUs. ServeTheHome’s July 20, 2023 article discussed additional US and international clusters as planned expansion; those plans should not be mistaken for one completed deployment.
Cerebras’s company history later described CG-1 as part of the Condor Galaxy network introduced with G42 in 2023. Cerebras says CG-1 delivered 4 exaFLOPs of FP16 performance and had 54 million cores. These are company-reported specifications, not independent benchmark findings. Cerebras company history
Why did Kennedy call Cerebras an AI “winner”?
Kennedy’s argument was about the business model as much as the hardware. Cerebras was building and operating clusters and aiming to sell spare cloud capacity, rather than relying solely on selling processors to customers. In principle, operating infrastructure can create recurring service revenue and give a hardware maker more ways to monetize its systems.

The article’s path to $1 billion in AI revenue was hypothetical: it depended on assumptions about future cluster buildout and utilization. It was not a reported revenue result. The distinction matters when reading the headline: the 2023 article made a forecast about Cerebras’s competitive position, not a neutral determination that it had surpassed GPU providers.
What has changed since the 2023 project?
OpenAI agreement
In January 2026, Cerebras announced a multi-year agreement with OpenAI for 750 megawatts of wafer-scale systems. Deployments were expected to roll out in stages beginning in 2026. This is an announced agreement and timetable, not evidence that all of that capacity had already been installed. Cerebras announcement

- Space Saving: Maximum depth: 14.8". Use the wall mount network cabinet to maximize available space for retail locations, classrooms, back offices, network cabinets, and other locations where space is limited.
- Fast Heat Dissipation: The server cabinet is designed with vents to optimize airflow and avoid critical IT equipment overheating. Heat sink holes in the top, bottom, and rear panels are more conducive to heat dissipation.
- Sturdy Construction: Robust welded frame construction for durability and long service life. With 100 lbs wall-mounted load capacity and 200 lbs ground-mounted load capacity, you can place multiple devices in the server rack cabinet as needed.
- High Security: The locked glass door ensures the security of data and equipment. Wall mount rack enclosure server cabinet is ideal for use in public places such as offices, effectively protecting the security of your devices.
- Hassle-free Installation: Fully adjustable square-hole mounting rails of the wall mount server cabinet facilitate device installation. Wiring holes on the top, bottom, and rear panels provide you with easy cable routing.
AMD inference partnership
On July 23, 2026, AMD and Cerebras announced a disaggregated inference partnership. Their proposed division of work assigns AMD Helios to high-throughput prompt and context processing, and Cerebras wafer-scale systems to low-latency decode and token generation. The companies said the joint solution was expected to become available first through Cerebras Cloud in the second half of 2026; that is their stated schedule, not an independently verified launch. Reported quarterly results
Cerebras reported $193.4 million in GAAP revenue and a $14.0 million GAAP net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 2026. These are company-reported GAAP figures for that quarter; they should not be conflated with the separate non-GAAP “core” revenue measure discussed in the company’s release. Cerebras Q1 2026 results

- Adjustable Depth: 23-40'' adjustable depth is used for servers and network equipment, ensuring enough space for AV equipment, components, and cabling, while allowing you to access ports and equipment from multiple sides.
- Strong Load Capacity: Ground-Mounted Load Capacity: 500 lbs, Wall-Mounted Load Capacity: 150 lbs. The av rack is made of carbon steel for better weldability performance and can help save space while meeting your need to place multiple devices.
- User-friendly Design: Ergonomic design makes the open frame av rack easier to use. The additional top panel is able to place other items with more available space. Roller design moves anywhere and anytime, is convenient, and is more energy-saving.
- Complete Accessories: We provide the accessories you need, including 2 x Pallets, 145 x M5*10 Cross Head Screws, 4 x Casters, 4 x M10*50 Expansion Screws,10 x M6*12 Cage Nuts, 1 x Grounding Wire, 1 x User Manual.
- Wide Application: The server rack wall mount maximizes the use of available space, suitable for retail venues, classrooms, offices, and other places where space is limited.
Is Cerebras better than Nvidia for AI?
There is no useful universal answer from the evidence cited here. Cerebras and GPU-based infrastructure should be compared as complete systems against a specific workload, not by treating one wafer-scale processor as interchangeable with one GPU. Training, prompt processing (prefill), and token generation (decode) can have different requirements and bottlenecks.
A decision-maker should compare the same model and context size, target latency and throughput, scale, software support, deployment option (cloud or on-premises), and total cost. Performance claims also need a clear source: a vendor announcement, an analysis such as Kennedy’s 2023 article, or an independent like-for-like benchmark. The AMD-Cerebras partnership itself frames inference around latency, throughput, token capacity, cost, and scale, but an announced design does not establish that it outperforms a competing configuration.

What the project means for investors and customers
For customers, CG-1 is evidence of an attempt to package Cerebras hardware into operated AI capacity, alongside later announced partnerships. It does not by itself establish availability, price, or an advantage for a particular model or workload. Those require deployment-specific information and comparable measurements.
For investors, the key distinction is between strategic potential and demonstrated financial performance. A cluster operator may seek recurring service revenue, but the 2023 article’s revenue scenario was a projection. Cerebras’s 2026 quarterly GAAP figures provide a dated financial snapshot; they do not prove that the earlier hypothetical target was achieved or identify how much revenue came from any single cluster.
