Former Carnival Valor crew member Trevor Johnson said he was asked to leave the ship during its Cozumel stop before his planned departure date. His account describes a rushed exit, but the reason for the timing has not been confirmed by Carnival or independently documented.
What Trevor Johnson said happened
Crew Center reported on November 13, 2025, that Johnson, described as a Fun Squad and Comedy Club host aboard Carnival Valor, said he submitted his resignation on November 4 and planned to leave on November 20. Johnson wrote, as reproduced by Crew Center: “I submitted my resignation on November 4th with the intention of leaving on November 20th — giving a full two-week notice.” Crew Center’s report presents this as Johnson’s statement, not confirmation from Carnival.
Johnson said he was woken by a knock at about 6 a.m. on November 12, while the ship was in Cozumel, and told to pack and disembark within an hour. He described feeling embarrassed and distressed. His account also said onboard human resources, the hotel director and the entertainment director allowed him additional time after packing to say goodbye.
Johnson also wrote, “Oh & YES, shoreside was the one to make this decision for me to leave TODAY…..” That is his characterization of who made the decision, as reproduced by Crew Center; it is not Carnival’s explanation.

Why was he asked to leave before November 20?
The available reports do not establish why Johnson was told to leave when he did. Carnival Addicts published a similar account on November 17, 2025, also relying on Johnson’s account of his notice and departure. Cruise Addicts’ report describes social-media discussion after the story circulated, but that discussion does not verify the company’s rationale.
No case-specific Carnival explanation or employment document confirming the decision was located in the available reporting. The reports therefore support saying Johnson reported an early departure after giving notice; they do not establish that Carnival fired him, retaliated against him, or breached an agreement. The reason for the timing remains unconfirmed.

What Carnival’s public policy pages do—and do not—show
Carnival’s general Safety and Security page discusses the captain’s authority over crew actions related to safety and security and sets out rules for guests. Its Code of Conduct page addresses guest behavior and possible guest removal. Neither page explains Johnson’s employment circumstances or establishes why he was asked to leave the ship.

- Reported by Johnson: He said he gave notice on November 4, 2025, expected to leave November 20, and was told to disembark in Cozumel on November 12 after roughly an hour to pack.
- Also in his account: He said onboard staff gave him extra time after packing to say goodbye.
- Not established: Carnival’s reason for the timing, the terms of any employment arrangement, and whether the departure was a termination rather than another personnel decision.
