The story concerns a payslip attributed to former Manchester City player Carlos Tevez, but the document has not been authenticated in the reporting cited here. SportBible says the alleged slip showed £330,766 in PAYE for one month; that is a reported figure, not proof that Tevez paid that amount every month. Other reports give tax-year totals, and one describes a £300,000 tax hit without clearly establishing it as monthly tax alone.
What the alleged payslip reportedly showed
Reports about a document said to have circulated online identified it as Carlos Tevez’s payslip from his time with Manchester City. The figures are claims reported by publishers, not independently verified details of Tevez’s personal tax record. The distinction matters: a number printed on an unverified document is not the same as a confirmed payment to HMRC.

The headline figure is also not consistent across the coverage. SportBible reported £330,766 in PAYE for a month. Pedestrian.tv described a £300,000 tax hit against a reported weekly income of £744,287, but its account does not clearly establish that the £300,000 was tax for one month alone. Those descriptions should not be blended into a single precise monthly bill.

| Report | Figure reported | What the figure refers to |
|---|---|---|
| SportBible (2023) | £330,766 | PAYE attributed to one month on the alleged payslip; not an authenticated tax record. |
| SportBible (2023) | Nearly £3.2 million | Reported tax for the 2009/10 tax year; a tax-year figure, not a monthly amount. |
| News24 (2012) | Nearly £3.3 million | Reported tax and National Insurance for the 2009/10 tax year. |
| Yahoo Sports (2012) | £408,397.27 | Net earnings attributed to the month shown on the apparent slip. |
| Pedestrian.tv (2012) | £300,000 tax hit; £744,287 reported weekly income | The report does not clearly establish that the tax figure is monthly tax alone. |
The table separates three different things: a monthly PAYE amount, an annual tax-year total, and a figure that a report does not clearly define as a monthly tax bill. News24’s annual figure also explicitly includes National Insurance, while SportBible describes its figure as tax. The labels and time periods are not interchangeable.

Does the story prove Tevez paid £300,000 in tax every month?
No. The available reports do not establish a recurring monthly tax payment of £300,000. SportBible’s £330,766 figure is attributed to PAYE on one month of an alleged slip. A single reported month cannot establish that the same amount was withheld or paid in every month, and the separate £3.2 million and nearly £3.3 million figures are for the 2009/10 tax year.
Pedestrian.tv’s £300,000 description does not resolve the issue: it pairs that tax-hit wording with a reported weekly income of £744,287 but does not clearly identify the £300,000 as monthly tax alone. Consequently, the phrase “£300k tax per month” is a shorthand headline claim, not a confirmed recurring figure.

Was the Manchester City payslip genuine?
The reporting cited here does not settle that question. Yahoo Sports described the slip as apparent, while other coverage framed it as leaked or alleged. No named person’s official confirmation or authenticated personal financial record is provided in these accounts. The defensible description is therefore “a payslip attributed to Tevez” or “an alleged payslip,” rather than a verified record of what he earned or paid.
That caveat applies to the striking numbers as well as to the document itself. The figures can be accurately described as what each publication reported, but they should not be presented as independently checked facts about Tevez’s actual earnings, deductions, or tax payments.

What a reader can take from the claim
- The player named in the reports is Carlos Tevez, then associated with Manchester City.
- SportBible reported £330,766 in PAYE for one month on the alleged slip; it did not establish a recurring monthly amount.

- Yahoo Sports reported net earnings of £408,397.27 for the cited month, again based on the apparent slip.
- The cited coverage does not authenticate the document or establish that the headline’s £300,000 was monthly tax alone.
