No current official Google instructions document a way to send or receive money through Gmail using Google Wallet. The available options are different: eligible users in the US can withdraw an existing Google Pay balance to a bank account, while Google lists sending money to friends and family through Google Pay in India and Singapore. Gmail is not the transfer mechanism for either option.
Can you send money through Gmail?
Google’s current help pages do not document a Gmail workflow for transferring money with Google Wallet. Do not treat a payment-related email or Gmail message as proof that a transfer has been sent or received. The available Google Pay features depend on the country or region, and sending money to another person is distinct from withdrawing your own Google Pay balance.
Google lists Google Pay as available for sending money to friends and family in India and Singapore. That regional availability does not establish that the feature is available everywhere or that Gmail can initiate it. Check Google’s country and region guidance for current details.
How to transfer an existing US Google Pay balance to your bank
If you are in the US and have an existing Google Pay balance eligible for withdrawal, Google’s instructions provide two ways to transfer it out. This moves your own balance to a linked bank account; it is not a payment to another person.

Google says a bank transfer should be available within 1–5 business days. This is Google’s stated estimate, not a guaranteed arrival time. See Google’s balance withdrawal guidance for its instructions and current details.
Can you still withdraw a Google Pay balance?
Yes. Google says the virtual Google Pay Balance Card feature was removed on June 22, 2026, but remaining balance funds are still available to withdraw, with no current deadline to do so. The change concerns the balance card feature; it does not mean that other cards in Google Wallet were removed. Use the withdrawal steps above to move an eligible US balance to a linked bank account.

What to check if a US balance transfer fails
Google’s troubleshooting guidance points to eligibility, limits, payment-method restrictions, and mismatched account details as possible issues. Review these before trying again:
- Confirm that your balance and payment method meet Google’s eligibility and limit requirements.
- Check that the name and address in your Google payments profile match the records held by your bank or card issuer.
- Review whether a payment method is associated with more than five Google Pay profiles or whether your payments profile contains more than five methods; Google lists these as relevant limits.
These are details from Google’s current help guidance and may change. Consult Google’s US transfer instructions for the latest troubleshooting information.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow to handle payment-related emails safely
Google’s advice is to send money only to people you know. Be cautious with unknown sellers, suspicious emails, and requests for passwords, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, PINs, or full card numbers. An email asking for sensitive information should not be treated as a necessary step to withdraw a balance.
To inspect who sent an email, Google says you can open the dropdown next to Reply and choose Show original in Gmail. For more guidance, see Google’s advice on fraud, phishing, and spoofing.
