Google-branded merchandise was reported as a Play Points reward in April 2023, but Google’s current general redemption guidance does not list physical swag as a standard benefit. Check your own Google Play Points catalog: an offer is redeemable only if it appears there, with its terms and point cost.
What Google swag was offered?
A report published on April 18, 2023 described a promotion offering Google-branded sunglasses, a water bottle, a T-shirt and a sweatshirt in exchange for Play Points. It mentioned sunglasses costing 900 points at the time, but did not provide a complete official price list. Those are historical examples, not a current catalog or price promise. Droid Life’s April 2023 report establishes that the promotion existed; it does not establish that the same items are available now.

Google’s general Play Points redemption guidance describes digital items, coupons, Google Play credit, partner rewards and, in some locations, donations or checkout rewards. It does not identify physical Google merchandise as a standard reward category. A 2026 third-party report describes users seeing Android Bot merchandise and other swag, but that is not confirmation of universal availability or official eligibility rules. Treat any such listing as account-specific unless Google displays it in your rewards flow.
How to check whether your account has a merchandise offer
On Android
- Open the Google Play Store app and make sure you are signed in to the account that holds your points.
- Tap your profile picture, then tap Play Points.
- Tap Use and review the rewards shown for your account.
- If a physical item is listed, open its offer and read the full terms before confirming with Use points.
Google documents this redemption path in its Android instructions. The catalog shown in your account—not an old article or screenshot—is the useful reference for current availability and cost.

On the web
Go to Google Play, click your profile picture, choose Play Points, then Use and select an available reward. Google documents this route for desktop. The web and Android catalogs are not guaranteed to match, so check the app as well if an offer is missing online.
Check the terms before spending points
A merchandise reward is not interchangeable with digital credit: it may involve delivery, inventory and restrictions that do not apply to an in-app item. Before confirming, inspect the offer card and checkout details for:

Google says some redemptions, including certain in-app or in-game items and donations, cannot be refunded. That guidance does not establish a universal refund policy for physical swag; use the terms on the specific merchandise offer. Google’s redemption guidance covers the stated limits.
Is swag a better use of points than credit or partner rewards?
There is no fixed cash conversion rate that makes every physical reward a good deal. Compare the live point cost with alternatives available to your account, and count only value you will actually use.

| If you care most about | Option to investigate | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Novelty or collectibility | Google swag, if listed | It may be limited, harder to receive and less flexible than credit. |

| Waiting for a different reward | Keep the points for now | Check the displayed point expiration date rather than assuming the balance lasts indefinitely. |
For U.S. members, Google currently describes earning at 1 point per dollar at Bronze and 1.10 points per dollar at Silver; its example says a $5 purchase at Silver earns 6 points after rounding, excluding tax. Promotions can change earn rates. These earning figures do not determine what a particular shirt or other reward is worth. Google’s U.S. Play Points details explain the rates and qualifications.
Why an offer may not appear
A missing listing does not by itself show why you cannot redeem it. The offer may have ended, may not be available in your Play country or account, or may be out of stock. Check the specific offer terms if it is visible; Google’s public general catalog does not establish the reason for an absent merchandise listing.

- Confirm the correct Google account is active and open Play Points → Use, rather than looking only at the Play Store home page.
- Check Perks too. Google distinguishes that area, which can contain third-party vouchers, from the Use redemption area.
- Check the Play country and billing profile associated with the account. Google says availability and benefits vary by country, and enrollment requires a valid payment method and a billing address matching the Play country. See country availability and enrollment requirements.
- If the interface seems incomplete, update Google Play and reopen Play Points. A limited promotion may also cease to appear when it ends or stock runs out.
- If an item is grayed out, Google says insufficient points may be the reason. Region, stock, tier or promotion restrictions are other possibilities only if the offer’s terms support them.
Do not change your Play country to try to unlock a different catalog. Google warns that a country change can mean losing points and level progress, and may affect exchanged coupons. Details are in Google’s country-change guidance.

Google says Play Points expire one year after the last time you earned or used points. You can check your balance and expiration date in the app; see how to check them. Google Play credit and coupons obtained with points also expire after one year, but do not assume that same rule applies to physical merchandise: follow the item’s own terms.

Using points lowers the redeemable balance but does not erase the points already counted toward annual level progress. For U.S. earning and level details, see Google’s Play Points information. Points cannot be bought directly, transferred between accounts or converted to cash.
If a merchandise redemption fails, do not assume points will automatically be restored. Google documents a possible 1–7-day return of points for failed eligible checkout rewards, depending on payment method; that is not a stated guarantee for physical swag. Check Play Points history and Google Play order or payment history, keep screenshots of the offer and confirmation, and contact Google Play support if points were deducted without a reward or delivery confirmation.
