Possibly—but the eye-catching prices attached to TikTok-loaded phones in 2025 were asking prices, not proof that buyers paid those amounts. As of October 8, 2026, TikTok is listed in both the US Apple App Store and Google Play, so the app’s absence from those stores is not currently a demonstrated reason to expect a premium for an old phone.
Can I sell a phone with TikTok installed?
Yes. You can offer a phone with TikTok installed, subject to the rules of the marketplace you use. But the fact that the app is on the device does not establish that the phone will sell for more. The available reporting documents listings during a brief US app-store availability disruption in 2025, not a dependable market value for phones with TikTok.
Any buyer will also care about the handset itself: its exact model and storage, physical condition, carrier lock status, and whether TikTok still works after the handoff. No reliable premium for a particular phone model is established by the available evidence.
Are people really paying thousands for TikTok phones?
Reports from January 2025 described high asking prices, but an advertised price is not a completed sale. The Associated Press reported listings as high as $50,000 and noted that it was unclear whether many phones sold at those prices. It also reported lower listings and a seller’s account of a bid; neither the maximum asking price nor a reported bid proves a completed sale at that amount. Associated Press, January 24, 2025.

Android Authority reported more than 24,000 eBay listings for “TikTok phone” in 2025. That figure counts listings, not sales, and does not show how many were phones with the app installed, how many sold, or what buyers paid. Android Authority, January 23, 2025.
The distinction matters for anyone estimating resale value: a seller can set any asking price, while a completed transaction is evidence of what a buyer actually paid. The cited reports do not provide a representative set of completed sales or a verified premium over comparable phones without TikTok.

Can you still download TikTok in the US?
As checked on October 8, 2026, TikTok has a listing with a download option in the US Apple App Store and an install option in Google Play. Google Play reports that the app was updated on September 10, 2026. These are dated snapshots of the US store pages, not a guarantee of availability on every device, account, or in every location.

Because the app is listed in both US stores at that check, the original scarcity argument—having TikTok on an otherwise ordinary phone because it could not be downloaded—is not established now. Store availability and policy can change.

Does TikTok being installed add value to my phone?
There is no reliable model-specific premium established here. A buyer might value convenience or the app’s continued usability, but that possibility is not the same as a demonstrated price increase. Compare offers for the same phone model and storage, condition, and carrier status; check whether TikTok is usable after transfer; and account for marketplace fees before deciding what an offer means. The 2025 reports do not provide current comparable-sale figures to support a price range.

What to check before listing a phone
- Identify the handset accurately. Record the model, storage, condition, and whether it is locked to a carrier. These details let buyers compare like with like.
- Describe the app honestly. State whether TikTok is installed, but do not promise it will remain accessible or claim a premium that you cannot substantiate.
- Check the marketplace’s rules. TikTok Shop US says sellers need approval before listing or offering refurbished electronic products, and must remove personal information and other end-user data where applicable. That policy applies to TikTok Shop US; it does not establish the rules for eBay, private sales, or every other marketplace. - Protect your data before handing over the phone. Do not leave personal accounts, messages, photos, or other private information on a device just to preserve an app installation. Follow the marketplace’s requirements and use a transfer or reset process that protects your information; if that would remove the app, do not imply that it will remain installed.
- Judge an offer by the net amount and the evidence. Distinguish a listing from a bid and a completed sale, and subtract any applicable selling fees when weighing what you would actually receive.
