It depends on the current checkout for your region and purchase. Blizzard’s accessible Balance restrictions page says Battle.net Balance cannot be combined with another payment method, but Blizzard’s support search also lists a newer article specifically about combining Balance with another method. Because the newer article’s details are not available here, it is not possible to confirm that a credit card can cover a shortfall in every checkout. Check the payment options shown before placing your order.
Can you pay with Blizzard balance and credit card?
Blizzard’s Battle.net Balance Restrictions page says Balance cannot be combined with another payment method. However, Blizzard’s support search lists Combining Battle.net Balance With Another Payment Method as an article updated two months before the research was conducted. The listing does not say whether credit cards qualify, which products are eligible, or whether availability varies by region.

That leaves the general answer unsettled: do not assume a credit card will pay the remainder after your Balance runs out. At checkout, review the available payment methods and any instructions shown for that specific order. If the option is unclear, consult Blizzard Support for your region and purchase.
What to check before using Balance
Match the Shop currency
Your Balance must be in the same currency as the Shop charges. Blizzard’s example is that dollar-denominated Balance cannot be used in the European Shop when it charges in euros. Check the currency displayed for both your Balance and the purchase.

Check the product and payment restrictions
Blizzard says Balance cannot pay for a World of Warcraft subscription, although it can be used to buy game time. It also cannot be used in the Blizzard Gear Store or in the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Apple, Google Play, or Amazon app stores. Blizzard notes that some products, payment methods, and currencies may have additional restrictions.
Make sure your card details match
If you are paying by credit card, Blizzard advises that your account address information match the card’s billing information, including street address, postal code, and country. Blizzard also recommends using a card billed within the account’s region; a card billed elsewhere may be rejected.

If your credit card or Balance payment fails
- Card declined: Compare the account address with the card’s billing address and confirm the card is billed in the account’s region.
- Balance not accepted: Check that the Balance currency matches the Shop currency and that the product supports Balance.
- Balance is short: Do not rely on the older restriction page alone to predict every current checkout. See whether the order screen offers another payment method alongside Balance; if it does not, ask Blizzard Support whether that purchase can be split in your region.
Blizzard says Balance code cards may be available from physical retailers and can be claimed through Battle.net Account Management. A top-up is one possible way to add funds, but it does not establish that a credit card can cover a remaining amount at checkout.

Blizzard’s Balance restrictions page gives account caps of $350/€250/£200, or $110/€110/£100 without an Authenticator linked. It also says a newly purchased Balance amount can take up to 24 hours to become available. These are Blizzard support limits and timing guidance; they do not resolve whether a particular order permits split payment.
