Yes—but the July 2024 Amazon US offer was a carrier promotion, not a free, unlocked iPhone. Stuff reported a $0.01 iPhone 15 Pro Max that was locked to Boost Mobile and required a wireless plan starting at $60 a month. iMore described the deal with a $70-a-month unlimited plan. The published terms differ, so the checkout terms—not the headline price—were essential to judging its cost. The promotion was tied to Prime Day 2024; its current availability has not been established.
What the one-cent iPhone offer actually included
Stuff’s July 17, 2024 report said Amazon US listed the iPhone 15 Pro Max for $0.01, with the phone locked to Boost and a required wireless plan starting at $60 per month. Read Stuff’s report.
iMore’s contemporaneous deal guide instead described the iPhone 15 Pro Max at $0.1 with an unlimited Boost plan and said the required plan cost $70 per month. Read iMore’s deal guide. The reports do not establish why their monthly figures differ; the plan and listing shown at checkout would have determined the buyer’s actual terms.
Either way, the low handset price was conditional on signing up for Boost service. Neither report described a one-cent unlocked phone with no ongoing cost.

How to judge the real cost
Compare the device price plus every required monthly payment over the period you expect to keep the plan. Also check taxes, activation charges, any plan term, and whether the plan can be changed without affecting the phone or its lock status. The two reports give different monthly plan figures, so they do not support a single total-cost calculation.
- Carrier lock: Confirm whether the phone is locked to Boost, and check the applicable unlocking rules and timing before relying on another carrier.
- Network fit: Check Boost coverage where you live and travel, and whether the service meets your needs.
- Exact phone: Verify storage and configuration rather than assuming every listing has the same specifications.
- Condition and protections: Check whether the phone is new or renewed, along with warranty coverage and return terms.
What alternatives were listed during Prime Day 2024?
For shoppers weighing a carrier-linked offer against buying a phone separately, iMore listed renewed iPhone 14 examples at about $485–$499 and a renewed 512GB iPhone 14 Pro at about $839 during the 2024 event. These are historical examples, not current price quotes. Compare condition, warranty, return terms, and any separate service cost before treating a device-only price as the cheaper choice.

Is the deal still available?
The offer was reported in connection with Prime Day 2024. The reports do not establish that it remains available or that Amazon has repeated it. Amazon’s July 10, 2024 announcement described Prime Day as an event for Prime members, but an event announcement does not confirm the present status of this specific phone promotion. See Amazon’s Prime Day 2024 announcement. Treat the one-cent offer as historical unless a current Amazon listing and checkout flow show a successor promotion and its full terms.

- Open Amazon directly in its app or by typing its address; do not follow a purchase link in an unexpected email, text, or social post.
- On the product page and at checkout, inspect the seller, phone condition, storage, carrier, lock status, required plan, recurring charges, taxes, and fees.
- Confirm the order and any related communications in your Amazon account. Amazon advises shoppers to use its own website or app to verify orders and warns that false urgency can be a scam signal. Read Amazon’s scam-prevention guidance.
- Do not provide payment details or sensitive information through a message or outside site claiming to verify the purchase.
Amazon said in July 2024 that 40% of scams customers reported in the prior month involved false messages pretending to be Amazon and asking recipients to verify a smartphone purchase. That figure is specific to Amazon’s reported scams and that period; it is a reason to verify through your account rather than trusting a message.
