For a new customer in the United States, no: Intuit no longer sells non-subscription, perpetual licenses of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Mac, and it stopped selling new U.S. subscriptions for Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Mac Plus after September 30, 2024. Existing subscribers may still renew. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is still sold, but only as a subscription. These policies concern U.S. sales; availability may differ elsewhere.

Does an old license or boxed copy solve the problem?
Not reliably on the evidence available. Intuit says it stopped selling Desktop software online and advises people who bought from a vendor other than Intuit to contact Intuit. That is not a confirmation that a particular listing is authentic, transferable, eligible for activation, or entitled to support. No specific seller or marketplace listing has been verified here.
Before paying a third party, ask Intuit to confirm the license and support status for that exact product and version. Do not assume that a boxed copy or product key gives a new buyer a supported, perpetual license.

Check support and connected services before using an older version
A license continuing to run is different from the product receiving support, security updates, or connected services. For QuickBooks Desktop 2023, Intuit says support and connected services ended after May 31, 2026, and critical security updates stopped June 1, 2026. The discontinued services include payroll, payments, online banking, and live support. Intuit’s Desktop 2023 service discontinuation policy describes the affected version and services; it does not mean every older copy immediately stops opening.
What changed for Desktop 2024?
Intuit’s release-process article says Desktop Plus 2024 and Enterprise 24.0 were the last annual platform releases as the company moved to continuous updates. In an article updated September 18, 2026, Intuit also said Desktop 2024 Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Enterprise Solutions would not be discontinued in May 2027 and described ongoing updates with no sunset deadline for that release. If you already subscribe
Intuit’s U.S. policy distinguishes current subscribers from new buyers: existing customers may continue to renew, while new U.S. sales of Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Enhanced Payroll ended after September 30, 2024. Renewal eligibility does not create an option to purchase a perpetual license. Check your account and Intuit’s latest policy for the terms that apply to your specific subscription.
If you need a non-subscription accounting program
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise does not meet a no-subscription requirement, and Intuit does not offer new U.S. buyers perpetual Desktop Pro, Premier, or Mac licenses. If a perpetual license is essential, compare other accounting products’ current licensing and support terms before choosing one. The restriction described above is explicitly for new U.S. customers. Intuit says the U.S. sales restriction applies in the United States, so do not assume the same availability or licensing rules apply in another country. Check the relevant local Intuit site for current product options and terms.
