In the United States, shoppers in participating markets can use Amazon Autos to browse and arrange the purchase of eligible Hyundai vehicles online—but the participating dealership remains the seller, and pickup is generally at that dealership. You can compare available payment options and, depending on the listing, enter trade-in details; some paperwork and test-drive steps may still happen in person.
What Amazon and Hyundai announced
Amazon and Hyundai announced a broad strategic partnership at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2023. Hyundai was named the first vehicle brand planned for Amazon’s U.S. vehicle-shopping store, with sales expected to begin in 2024. Amazon Autos launched in December 2024 with new Hyundai vehicles. Amazon’s partnership announcement and Amazon Ads’ Hyundai case study describe that timeline.
The partnership also covered other initiatives, including Hyundai selecting Amazon Web Services as its preferred cloud provider and plans for Alexa Built-in in next-generation Hyundai vehicles beginning in 2025. Those initiatives are separate from buying a car through Amazon Autos.
How buying a Hyundai through Amazon Autos works
Amazon Autos is a digital storefront and purchase workflow, not a direct-to-consumer car seller. Amazon connects shoppers with participating U.S. dealerships; the dealer sets its listed inventory and pricing, remains the seller of record, and handles the sale and vehicle delivery. The exact steps and available choices depend on the listing, dealer, and market. Amazon’s consumer overview and dealer FAQ explain the marketplace model.

- Search locally. Enter a ZIP code to find listings, generally from dealers within 75 miles. Filter and compare vehicles available in the area.
- Choose how to pay. For a listing that offers it, review financing, leasing, or full-payment options. You may be able to compare personalized financing offers; actual terms and eligibility depend on the offer and buyer.
- Enter trade-in details if applicable. Amazon’s process can let you submit information to receive a trade-in estimate. The estimate and any final valuation are subject to the dealer’s process and assessment.
- Review optional products and costs. Listings may offer protection products. The displayed itemization can include the vehicle price, taxes, fees, registration, and selected products.
- Place a deposit and arrange pickup. If you proceed, place the deposit through the online workflow and schedule pickup with the dealership. Amazon says shoppers typically arrange pickup within three days of ordering; this is a typical timeframe, not a guarantee for every vehicle or dealer.
- Complete remaining in-person steps. Paperwork that requires a physical signature can be completed at the dealership. Amazon says test drives are available through dealerships, so ask the dealer about timing and whether you can drive the vehicle before committing.
Availability, vehicle selection, and price
Amazon Autos is available only in select U.S. markets, and listings depend on location and participating dealers. Amazon’s current consumer overview, accessed October 5, 2026, reports more than 1,000 participating dealers across more than 130 U.S. cities. Those are Amazon-reported footprint figures, not a guarantee that service or a particular Hyundai is available near every ZIP code. Check the live search for local inventory.
The marketplace has expanded beyond its initial new-Hyundai launch. Amazon’s overview lists new vehicles from several brands, certified pre-owned vehicles from Hyundai and Ford Blue Advantage, and used vehicles from Hertz and other dealers. Amazon’s dealer FAQ says Hyundai dealers can list new, certified pre-owned, and used inventory, including leasing where available. The specific Hyundai selection—and whether a listing offers a lease—varies.

Each vehicle’s upfront price is set by the dealer. Amazon says it does not charge shoppers transaction fees or commissions, and its workflow displays itemized costs. That transparency does not establish that every listing is the lowest-priced offer available, or rule out a discrepancy in price or availability; confirm the terms with the dealer before finalizing a purchase.
What the Hyundai partnership means for shoppers
The practical change is an additional way to discover vehicles and handle parts of a purchase online. It does not remove the dealership from the transaction: the dealer supplies the listed vehicle, controls its pricing and availability, and completes the sale and delivery.

Amazon Ads’ Hyundai case study reports that for every Hyundai purchased through Amazon Autos, 10 or more additional Hyundai vehicles were purchased at dealerships by people who had browsed Hyundai on Amazon Autos. The case study also says 78% of those offline Amazon-influenced sales were new to the Hyundai brand. These are company-reported attribution results, not evidence that browsing caused those purchases or a forecast of an individual shopper’s experience.
The same case study reports a 2.2X campaign-efficiency improvement attributed to its measurement and audience suppression/enrichment approach. That advertising result is distinct from the price, financing terms, or convenience any buyer receives. Separately, Amazon Ads cites Cox Automotive’s January 2025 16th annual Car Buyer Journey Study for the finding that nearly two out of three customers prefer a blended digital-and-dealership experience; that statistic is not specific to Amazon Autos.

Is Amazon Autos the right route for your Hyundai purchase?
Use it if you want to compare local listings and explore online purchase steps, but compare the same vehicle and terms through the dealer’s own channels before deciding. Check the details that can change the real cost or experience:
- Whether the exact vehicle is in stock and the listed price remains current.
- Taxes, fees, registration, and any optional products in the itemized total.
- Financing or lease availability, eligibility, and final terms.
- How the dealer handles trade-in inspection and final valuation.
- Whether and when you can test-drive the vehicle, and what paperwork requires an in-person visit.
- Where pickup occurs and whether the dealer offers a different delivery arrangement.
Neither an online listing nor a dealership visit is automatically cheaper or easier in every case. The useful comparison is a current, matching vehicle and a complete, itemized offer from the participating dealer.
