Bloomberg reported on October 9, 2026, that Storonsky wants Revolut to compete in the United States with firms including JPMorgan Chase and American Express. He also said a U.S. primary listing had always been the target, pointing to the depth of U.S. capital markets. Bloomberg noted that Storonsky had previously said Revolut would not pursue an initial public offering before at least 2028. That is not an announced IPO date or confirmation that the company will go public.

Revolut announced in March 2026 that it had applied to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for a U.S. national bank charter. The company said a charter could let it operate nationwide under one federal framework, access payment rails such as Fedwire and ACH directly, and offer personal loans, credit cards and insured deposits. Those were proposed capabilities, not confirmation that the proposed bank was already providing them.

On September 3, 2026, Revolut said the OCC had conditionally approved its application. The company also said FDIC and Federal Reserve applications and approvals, as well as final OCC approval, remained outstanding. Revolut described 2027 as the proposed bank’s planned launch target; it was contingent on completing the approval process, not a guarantee that the bank would launch then.
What Revolut’s reported scale does—and does not—show
Revolut Group Holdings Ltd’s annual report for the year ended December 31, 2025, reported 68.3 million retail customers, £1.3 trillion in transaction volume and £50.2 billion in customer balances. It also described 2025 as the company’s fifth consecutive profitable year. These are company-reported figures for Revolut, not an aligned comparison with JPMorgan Chase or American Express. Differences in definitions, geography and reporting periods mean they cannot by themselves establish parity with either U.S. incumbent.

How JPMorgan Chase fits into the competitive picture
In a 2026 JPMorganChase company-update transcript, CEO Jamie Dimon named Revolut among a broad group of payments competitors, alongside companies such as Chime, PayPal, Stripe, Bilt and Ramp. That confirms Revolut was part of his description of the competitive field; it is not an assessment that Revolut has caught up with JPMorgan Chase or American Express.
