Re:

Can People With LinkedIn Premium See Me? What Profile Viewers Can See

LinkedIn Premium does not unmask private-mode visitors. Your profile-viewing setting determines whether someone sees your name, profile characteristics, or only a generic member entry.

No—not if you view someone’s profile in LinkedIn’s private mode. LinkedIn says Premium members cannot see the names of people who view their profile privately. What the profile owner sees depends on your profile-viewing privacy setting, not their subscription.

What the person can see depends on your viewing mode

LinkedIn offers three levels of visibility when you view another member’s profile. The profile owner’s “Who’s viewed your profile” page displays information according to the option you select:

Your setting What the profile owner may see
Your name and headline Your name and headline, plus your location and industry.
Private profile characteristics Some characteristics, such as your job title, company, school, or industry, without your name and headline. LinkedIn says the details may vary to protect privacy.
Private mode A generic “LinkedIn Member” entry, without your identity.

LinkedIn’s help page says, “You can’t view the names of members who’ve chosen to view your profile in private mode, even if you have a Premium account.” LinkedIn Help: Who’s viewed your profile

What LinkedIn Premium changes—and what it doesn’t

Premium Business and Premium Career provide a fuller viewer history and additional insights, but they do not override the viewing privacy setting chosen by each visitor. A private-mode visitor remains unnamed; a semi-private visitor appears through profile characteristics rather than a name.

LinkedIn’s comparison describes Basic accounts as showing the three most recent viewers from the past 90 days when the account is set to show name and headline. For Premium Business and Premium Career, it describes a fuller viewer list with up to 365 days of viewer data, along with filters and trends. These are feature limits stated by LinkedIn, and plan details can change. LinkedIn Help: Premium account features

Basic and Premium differ in your own viewer history

There is an important account-type distinction if you also want to see who has visited your profile. LinkedIn says a Basic account must be set to show name and headline to view its own viewer history. Premium members can browse in private mode and still view people who viewed their profile, but their subscription does not reveal the identities of visitors who chose private mode. How to change your profile-viewing privacy setting

Choose a mode before you visit someone’s profile. LinkedIn says the setting saves automatically.

  1. On desktop: Select Me > Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Visibility when viewing other profiles.
  2. On mobile: Tap your profile photo, then go to Settings & Privacy > Visibility > Visibility when viewing other profiles.
  3. Select Your name and headline, Private profile characteristics, or Private mode.

LinkedIn may update its interface labels, so the wording could change over time. LinkedIn Help: Who’s viewed your profile

Private mode and LinkedIn’s internal records

Private mode controls what the profile owner is shown; it does not establish whether LinkedIn itself records the profile view internally. LinkedIn’s help documentation describes the viewer information visible to members, not the company’s internal data retention practices.
