That history does not confirm that every FAST campus or student is eligible for a future cohort. Mitacs says the Summer 2027 application call has closed; applicants should check its current country and institution eligibility information before relying on the 2025 report.
Can FAST NUCES students apply for Mitacs Globalink?
FAST NUCES’s reported inclusion is historical, not a guarantee of current eligibility. A March 4, 2025, TechJuice report said the university had officially joined the Mitacs Internship 2025 program. A 2025 LinkedIn post by Waqar Baig also said FAST NUCES was included, while anticipating an update to the official website. Later, FAST-NUCES Islamabad Campus announced a student’s selection for a GRI placement at Concordia University.
These reports support that FAST students have had a route to participation, but they do not establish eligibility for the next cohort or confirm coverage of every campus. Mitacs lists Pakistan among participating countries and directs applicants to country-specific partner and institution eligibility. Check the live Mitacs GRI student page and ask FAST’s international office to confirm your campus and applicant status before preparing an application.
What is the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship?
GRI is a competitive, 12-week research internship for eligible international undergraduates. Interns work on faculty-hosted projects at Canadian academic institutions; Mitacs lists more than 70 host institutions. Applicants choose projects, so research fit, host institution and supervisor, province, project language, and dates are all worth considering alongside eligibility and funding.

Is FAST NUCES eligible for the Mitacs internship in 2027?
Mitacs says the Summer 2027 student application call has concluded and is no longer accepting applications. Its general rules for that cycle required applicants to be at least 18 and enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution. Applicants also had to meet country-specific progress and grade rules, be proficient in the project’s language, and have no previous GRI project.
Applicants were required to select at least three and no more than ten projects across at least three provinces. The internship had to last 12 consecutive weeks between May 1 and October 31, with a start date between May 1 and July 31. Mitacs also describes a sensitive-technology restriction tied to specified affiliations or support. Country rules may add to or modify general requirements, so these details should not be treated as confirmation of FAST eligibility or as rules for a future cohort.

What does “fully funded” cover?
Mitacs describes support toward round-trip airfare, transport from the Canadian airport to accommodation, housing, student enrollment fees, food and incidentals, and emergency health insurance. It also lists campus mentor support and access to industry events and professional development. The amounts vary by country of origin and host institution, so “fully funded” does not mean every expense is necessarily prepaid or that each intern receives the same cash award.
Mitacs’s administration information says funds are sent after the project starts, not in advance; some interns receive funds through international partners. Plan for initial travel and setup costs, and confirm the payment arrangement and applicable support categories for your placement before committing.

How much does Mitacs pay Pakistani interns?
A fixed current award amount for Pakistani interns is not established by the Mitacs information cited here. TechJuice’s March 2025 report gave historical figures of a $1,500 airfare subsidy, $175 transport stipend, $200-per-week living stipend, and $350-per-week housing allowance, plus host fees, immigration document fee reimbursement, and Canadian medical insurance. Those are secondary-source figures for the 2025 announcement, not confirmed current terms or a guaranteed award for a later cohort. Ask Mitacs or the relevant partner for the amounts and payment terms applying to your application year.
When does the next application open, and how should you prepare?
The current Mitacs page confirms that the Summer 2027 call is closed; it does not establish an opening date for a later cohort. Watch the official GRI page for a new call rather than relying on old scholarship listings. Before applications open:
