No. The deadline to submit a claim in the Canadian LastPass data-breach settlement was June 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, and the official claim portal says it cannot accept late claims. The settlement received final court approval on February 18, 2026. If you filed before the deadline, watch for claim-status updates by email; the settlement administrator says it will provide more information about status and payment in the months after the deadline.

What the Canadian LastPass settlement covered

The settlement resolves the LastPass Canadian Consumer Privacy Class Action in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Vancouver Registry, Action No. S-230956. The case concerns Canadian customers allegedly affected by the breach first reported in August 2022.

The class generally covers individuals and entities residing or domiciled in Canada whose private information was accessed by unauthorized parties in, during, or as a result of the breach, subject to the formal definition and exclusions. The information described in the settlement materials includes names, email addresses, telephone numbers, billing addresses, IP addresses used to access LastPass, and backup vault data. The settlement site says people with a LastPass account who were affected are “likely included in the Class”; that is a general indication, not confirmation that any particular person qualified. See the official Canadian settlement website and the official claim form and class definition.

Can you submit a claim now?

No. Claims opened March 25, 2026, and had to be submitted by June 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The official claim portal now states that late claims cannot be accepted. The court granted final approval on February 18, 2026; approval did not extend the claims deadline.

What compensation was available under the settlement?

The agreement established a US$3 million settlement fund for the Canadian action. It is not a promise that each claimant will receive a particular amount. Legal fees, administration expenses and approved honoraria are deducted, and the remaining funds are distributed to eligible people who filed claims under the court-approved allocation plan. If approved claims exceed the funds available for a distribution category, payments are reduced proportionally.

Claim category Settlement terms Important condition
Wasted time CAD $34.01 per hour, for up to five hours; maximum CAD $170.05 No supporting documentation was required for this category. The maximum was not a guaranteed payment.
Out-of-pocket expenses Reasonable expenses up to CAD $500 Documentation had to show the expense was incurred before May 31, 2023, and was reasonably connected to the breach.
Crypto-asset losses Claimed losses multiplied by 0.046875, or 4.6875% Claims were subject to validation by the administrator; the factor did not guarantee a payout.

The plan allocated CAD $1.4 million to the Crypto Claims Distribution Fund, with the remainder assigned to the Ordinary Claims Distribution Fund. These are settlement allocation rules, not estimates of an individual claimant’s payment. The settlement terms and long-form notice of settlement approval describe the categories and distribution process.

If you filed before the deadline

The settlement website says claimants will receive further information about claim status and payment by email in the months after the deadline. It does not establish that payments have started or state what any individual will receive. Check the email account associated with your claim, including spam or junk folders, and rely on the administrator’s official site for updates.

The administrator warns that it sends updates by email, not SMS: “We only send updates by email, not SMS.” Treat texts claiming a payment has started, or messages asking you to provide personal or banking details, as suspicious. Do not use a link in an unexpected message to disclose sensitive information; navigate to the official Canadian settlement website yourself.

Do not confuse the Canadian case with the US settlement

The Canadian proceeding has its own class definition, residency requirements, deadline and distribution plan. It is separate from the US LastPass Data Security Incident Litigation. The US settlement website describes that different proceeding; its deadlines, eligibility rules and benefits do not apply to the Canadian settlement. Canadian claimants should use the Canadian administrator’s site for this case.
