The recording surfaced in connection with a lawsuit by former employee Robert Garza, who alleges Bally made racist remarks about Indian coworkers and disparaged Campbell’s products as food for poor people. Those allegations are claims in a lawsuit, not findings by a court.
What Campbell’s announced
In a statement published November 26, 2025, Campbell’s said it learned of the litigation and first heard segments of the recording on November 20. After reviewing it, the company said it believed the voice was Bally’s and that he was no longer employed as of November 25. Campbell’s statement called the comments “vulgar, offensive and false,” apologized for the hurt they caused, and said they did not reflect the company’s values.
The announcement describes the company’s decision and its identification of the voice; it is not a court ruling on the underlying allegations.
What Garza alleges in the lawsuit
Garza’s lawsuit alleges that Bally disparaged Campbell’s products as food for poor people, made racist comments about Indian coworkers, and made claims about the chicken used in the soup. Garza also alleges that he raised concerns about Bally’s remarks and faced retaliation before Campbell’s terminated him. These are Garza’s claims as described in reporting, not independently established facts in the available sources.
