How many copies has Call of Duty sold?
Activision-Blizzard said the Call of Duty franchise had sold more than 500 million copies as of October 30, 2024. The total covers the series as a whole, beginning with the original Call of Duty in 2003; it is not a sales figure for any one game. Guinness World Records records the franchise’s milestone, and The Washington Post reported Activision-Blizzard’s statement.
What does Black Ops 6’s “biggest launch” mean?
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella characterized Black Ops 6 as the biggest Call of Duty release ever based on two launch measures: day-one players and Game Pass subscriber additions on launch day. That is an engagement and subscription record, not a disclosed unit-sales record. The cited reporting gives neither an exact player count nor an exact number of new Game Pass subscribers, and it does not establish how many copies the game sold. Copies sold count purchases across a franchise’s history; players and subscription additions describe activity around one game’s launch. A player may access a game through a subscription rather than buy a copy, so the launch-engagement description cannot be converted into a sales number.
