Bumble’s plan to cut about 30% of its workforce was announced in June 2025, not in 2026. The company said its board approved a reduction of approximately 240 roles on June 23, 2025, and described the plan publicly in a June 25 SEC filing and employee message.

What Bumble announced

Bumble Inc. said it was reducing approximately 240 roles, equivalent to approximately 30% of its employees. In its June 25, 2025 Form 8-K, the company said the restructuring was intended to realign its operating structure and optimize execution on its strategic priorities. That is Bumble’s stated rationale, not an independently established explanation for the decision.

In an employee message filed with the SEC on June 25, CEO and founder Whitney Wolfe Herd wrote, “Bumble, like the online dating industry itself, is at an inflection point.” The sentence reflects her characterization of the company and industry; it is not independent evidence about broader industry conditions. The filed message also framed the changes as part of Bumble’s effort to focus on its priorities.

Restructuring charges and reported savings are different figures

Bumble estimated that the 2025 plan would result in $13 million to $18 million in non-recurring charges, primarily for employee severance, benefits and related costs. Its filing said substantially all of those charges were expected to result in future cash outlays. These are estimated costs associated with carrying out the restructuring.

The Associated Press separately reported that Bumble expected approximately $40 million in annual savings from the cuts and planned to invest much of those savings in product and technology development. That is a reported annual savings estimate, not the same measure as the one-time restructuring charges, and it does not establish what product changes or outcomes would follow. AP’s June 25, 2025 coverage reported the savings and reinvestment plan.

How to read the announcement in context

Reuters placed the cuts amid pressure on dating apps to keep users spending. That is Reuters’ industry framing, not Bumble’s formal rationale in its SEC filing. Reuters’ June 25, 2025 report provides that context.

Bumble’s later SEC quarterly filing continued to refer to the cuts as the “2025 Restructuring Plan,” while its August 5, 2026 second-quarter results discussed product and platform initiatives without announcing a new 30% workforce reduction. The headline therefore refers to the 2025 restructuring, not a fresh 2026 layoff announcement.

TRALT Office Chair Ergonomic Desk Chair with Lumbar Support Black, 1
  • High-Resilience Molded Foam Seat – Won’t Flatten After 1 Year – Instead of budget foam that hardens and sags within months, the seat is built with high-density, high-resilience molded foam that bounces back day after day. It maintains its shape and cushioning far longer, preventing the “bottoming out” discomfort common at this price point
  • Adjustable Lumbar, Not a Fixed Afterthought – Unlike flimsy plastic supports that crack or lose tension, this chair features a durable lumbar mechanism that adjusts depth to match your spine’s natural curve. Genuinely relieves lower back pressure during long sitting sessions
  • Breathable Mesh Backrest – No Peeling, No Heat Buildup – Say goodbye to flaking faux leather. The high-tension mesh back promotes continuous airflow, keeping you cool in warm environments and eliminating the mess of peeling upholstery. Mesh holds up significantly better over time and looks professional years later
  • Anti-Sink BIFMA Certified Gas Cylinder – A common failure in budget chairs: the pneumatic cylinder loses pressure and slowly sinks during use. Our Class 3 BIFMA-certified gas lift is built to hold its height reliably, so your chair stays exactly where you set it—year after year. No more sudden drops or mid-work adjustments
  • Heavy-Duty Metal Core Base (330 lbs Capacity) – Thin plastic bases can crack under stress, especially near the cylinder hub. We use a reinforced nylon base with a metal core, providing the durability and peace of mind you need. Smooth-rolling, 360° silent casters glide across hardwood, tile, or carpet without scratching or catching
