Why did Breitling acquire Gallet?
Breitling announced the acquisition in March 2025. It presented Gallet, a Swiss watch name founded in 1826, as a way to reach buyers looking below Breitling’s price tier. Universal Genève, which Breitling acquired in 2023, was positioned above Breitling. Together, the brands form a portfolio intended to cover different customers and price levels; the strategy itself does not guarantee sales or market success.

In an interview with Fratello, Breitling CEO Georges Kern described Gallet as a sister brand with its own identity and target customer, while benefiting from Breitling boutiques and distribution. The acquisition price and exact transaction terms have not been disclosed in the cited coverage.
What changed between the 2025 plan and the 2026 relaunch?
When the acquisition was announced, Kern said Gallet watches were expected to cost slightly less than CHF 3,000 to around CHF 5,000. He also said Breitling in-house movements were not then planned for the brand and that the watches would not receive COSC certification. Those were announcement-era expectations, not final specifications or prices for the relaunched line.

Gallet’s official press lounge announced the relaunch on September 3, 2026. The release says Breitling manufactures the watches and provides technical, distribution, and after-sales infrastructure. One clear difference from the initial movement plan is the Gallet Classics collection, which uses Breitling’s hand-wound B09 manufacture chronograph caliber.

Gallet’s official US collection page lists four collections. The prices below are US site listings, not universal prices or an independent assessment of value; check the official page for current prices and availability before buying.

Gallet is described in acquisition coverage and brand materials as a chronograph-focused Swiss name founded in 1826, with a legacy associated with aviation, travel, and motor racing. Historical accounts say the Flying Officer, introduced in 1939, was designed to track multiple time zones and that a version was worn by US President Harry S. Truman. These are reported heritage claims, not a guarantee that every detail has been independently verified.

The relaunch maps that history onto distinct collection roles: Flying Officer for long-distance travel, Multichron Pilot for exploration, Multichron Sport for speed and off-road use, and Gallet Classics for anniversary chronographs inspired by archival designs. Kern said in March 2025 that the long-term vision was to revive Gallet while honoring its legacy of adventure and chronograph innovation. At the relaunch, Gallet Managing Director Erwan Rossignol said manufacturing within Breitling’s infrastructure would support the heritage while delivering modern quality, reliability, and service.
Where can buyers find the watches?
The Gallet collections are live on the brand’s official storefront. The relaunch release says Gallet draws on Breitling’s retail distribution and after-sales network, but the available information does not establish stock, authorization, or affiliate status for any particular outside retailer. Confirm the seller, exact model, price, and service arrangements before purchasing through a third party.
