PerthNow reported on 12 June 2016 that Bree Maddox became the sole owner of The Court Hotel after a settlement worth more than $10 million with her former husband, Malcolm Day. The report said company documents showed Day had ceased to be a director and shareholder by March 2016. The settlement instrument itself was not cited in the report, so its precise terms are not established by the available account.
What PerthNow reported about the settlement
In its 12 June 2016 report, PerthNow said Maddox became sole owner of The Court Hotel following a settlement with Day valued at more than $10 million. The article described the amount as the settlement value; it did not say the sum was paid entirely in cash or provide an itemized breakdown. PerthNow
PerthNow also said company documents showed Day had been removed as a director in March 2016 and was no longer a shareholder. The report cited those documents but did not link to the underlying records.

OUTinPerth said Maddox would become an advisor after the acquisition completed. The cited reporting supports the historical account that Maddox became sole owner in 2016, followed by a conditional Australian Venue Co acquisition agreement reported in 2023.
