The awards were held at Claremont Showground on June 7, 2024.
Which Boundary Island beers won?
| Beer | Award category | Entry format |
|---|---|---|
| Estuary Ale XPA | Best Pale Ale | Packaged |
| Island Lager | Best Low Alcohol Beer | Draught |
The two awards were in separate categories and formats, so they were not a head-to-head comparison. The results do not establish comparative tasting scores, production volume, or consumer preference. Boundary Island’s beer page also identifies Estuary XPA as a core beer and describes Island Lager Mid as a 3.5% ABV mid-strength lager.
When and where were the awards held?
The Perth Royal Beer Awards took place at Claremont Showground on June 7, 2024. A Mandurah Times report by Kasey Gratton, published June 26, 2024, says 60 experts judged 529 entries from 48 exhibitors. Those are figures reported about this event, not general statistics about Western Australia’s brewing industry.
What the awards recognize
Royal Agricultural Society of WA chief executive Robyn Sermon said the awards “showcase the quality, craftmanship, flavour and diversity of Australian brewed beer.” The spelling “craftmanship” is reproduced as printed in the Mandurah Times report. Sermon also said the awards highlighted the diversity of Western Australia’s brewing scene.
