What the settlement is about
The case concerns allegations that Apple failed to deliver certain Apple Intelligence features on time, harming buyers who expected those features. It is not a general phone-ownership rebate. The official Smartphone AI Settlement FAQ sets out the class definition and claim requirements.
The broad headline claim—Samsung or iPhone purchases dating back to 2015 qualifying for $23—does not match this settlement. The origin of that $23 figure is unresolved, and the available reporting does not establish whether it refers to a different case.
Who may qualify
According to the official FAQ, the class includes people who bought one of the listed phones in the United States from June 10, 2024, through March 29, 2025, for a purpose other than resale.

Owning a listed model by itself may not be enough: the FAQ requires claimants to affirm the stated purchase, expectation, and device conditions, and to provide information sufficient to confirm purchase or ownership.
How much could an eligible claimant receive?
The Associated Press reported in May 2026 that the agreement included a $250 million settlement fund and covered an estimated 37 million devices. It reported estimated payments of $25 to $95 per eligible device, depending on claims and other factors; the agreement was then proposed and awaiting court approval. The Los Angeles Times reported in September 2026 that claims could be filed and gave the same estimated payment range. These are estimates for this Apple case, not a guaranteed payment or support for a $23 amount. Check the official settlement site for current status and claim details.

What this means for Samsung owners
Samsung devices do not appear in the official class definition for this Apple settlement. That does not establish that no other settlement exists; it means this case is not evidence that Samsung owners, or people who bought phones anytime since 2015, are owed $23. The settlement administrator’s official site is the place to verify eligibility for this particular claim.
