BEB’s current company page lists Luna Chen as CEO and Dr. Hong Xie as Chief Technology and Medical Officer, so Zhang should be understood as the woman featured in that earlier profile—not assumed to be the company’s current leader. Public FDA records verify specific BEB-branded tests, but do not establish that the company’s more ambitious analyzer, funding or expansion claims have been realized.
Who is the woman behind Boston Easy Biotech?
In its January 8, 2024 profile, Tech Times presented Janet Zhang as BEB’s co-founder and strategic leader. The article described her as having held leadership roles in accounting and operations, worked as a biotechnology investment analyst at China International Capital Corp., and earned a Master’s in Applied Analytics from Columbia University and a Master of Accounting Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It linked her interest in diagnostics to improving access in remote and underserved communities. These are biographical details reported by that profile, not a confirmation of her current position at BEB. Read the 2024 profile.

BEB’s current company overview names Luna Chen as CEO and says she previously sold IOB Medical, a patient-warming blanket company. The same page identifies Dr. Hong Xie as Chief Technology and Medical Officer. It does not say Chen founded BEB or explain when or why the leadership changed, and it does not clarify Zhang’s current involvement. The available public information therefore supports two distinct points in time, not a single continuous leadership story.
What does Boston Easy Biotech do now?
BEB’s current public-facing business spans branded rapid tests, distribution, private-label/OEM services and point-of-care technology development. That makes it look more like a diagnostic-products and platform company than a conventional therapeutics-focused biotech startup. Its product catalog lists several categories:
- Fertility and pregnancy: digital pregnancy tests, HCG strips and other pregnancy-test formats, plus LH ovulation strips.
- Respiratory illness: Flu A/Flu B tests, Flu A/Flu B/2019-nCoV combination tests and 2019-nCoV antigen tests.
- Drug screening: multi-drug cups, cotinine and marijuana cards, oral-fluid tests, fentanyl/norfentanyl tests and multi-level marijuana cards.
The catalog is not a substitute for checking the specific product’s labeling, regulatory status and intended use. A rapid result is not automatically equivalent to a definitive laboratory diagnosis. Point-of-care testing generally takes place near a patient in a clinical or care setting; an at-home test is used by a consumer and may have different instructions, labeling and follow-up requirements. Performance depends on the individual test, specimen, timing and intended use.
What did the 2024 article claim about BEB’s analyzer?
The 2024 profile described microfluidic biochemistry and immunoassay analyzers, reporting that the system used about 50 microliters of whole blood, could return results in approximately 14 minutes and could process up to six specimens per run. It also described potential tests for kidney and liver function, glucose, lipids, SAA and CRP. These are historical specifications reported in that article; they should not be treated as independently validated or as current product specifications.
Rank #2
BEB’s current R&D page refers to point-of-care products and a time-resolved fluorescence analyzer, but does not reproduce all of those specifications or provide a complete public validation package. The company’s pages reviewed do not establish that the analyzer is commercially available or FDA-cleared. “Lab-quality” is a meaningful performance claim only when supported by product-specific analytical and clinical evidence.

What do FDA records verify?
FDA records support the existence of specific BEB-branded tests with particular 510(k) records. They do not certify the company’s entire catalog or validate unrelated analyzer claims.

| Product or record | What the FDA listing shows |
|---|---|
| BEB Multi-Drug Rapid Test Cup, K233019 | FDA record lists a decision date of December 13, 2023, and an effective date of January 19, 2024. Hangzhou AllTest Biotech Co., Ltd. is listed as manufacturer; Boston Easy Biotech appears in the test name and consumer-contact information. FDA record. |
| BEB Digital Pregnancy Rapid Test, K222305 | Listed for urine hCG, effective December 6, 2023, in the FDA search results. FDA search results. |
| BEB hCG pregnancy test strip, midstream and cassette formats, K192843 | Listed as effective September 2, 2022, in the FDA search results linked above. |
A 510(k) record applies to a particular device and intended use; it should not be generalized to every product carrying a brand name. The Multi-Drug Rapid Test Cup record also illustrates why brand and manufacturer are not necessarily the same: a BEB-branded product can identify another company as its manufacturer. BEB says its private-label service can work with FDA-cleared products, but prospective buyers should check each product’s record and labeling rather than infer that all products, services or analyzers share a clearance. BEB private-label information.
How does BEB sell and partner?
The company describes four commercial channels on its current website:
- Consumer sales: BEB directs consumers to its official Amazon store rather than displaying prices on its own purchase page. The price and availability of an individual product should be checked at the point of sale.
- Distribution: BEB says it works with distributors serving pharmacies, retail, clinics, urgent-care centers, physician offices and public-health programs. Its distribution page does not publish pricing.
- Private label and OEM: The company offers product-line support, FDA add-to-file assistance, and low-to-mid minimum order quantities for market testing, with scalable production. It does not publish numeric order thresholds or prices. See its private-label page.
- Point-of-care R&D: BEB promotes analyzer and POCT development, but its R&D page does not show a retail price, purchase option or full technical specification sheet.
For clinics and distributors, the practical questions are product-specific: intended use, specimen collection, performance data, quality controls, lot consistency, supply continuity, manufacturing location, customer support and whether a result requires confirmation. A clinic should also verify whether the exact test fits its required laboratory workflow and regulatory status. Rapid drug screens can be presumptive; high-consequence employment, legal or medical decisions may call for confirmatory laboratory testing. A screen alone does not establish impairment or legal proof.

The 2024 article reported more than $2 million in funding from global investors, planned pilot deployments beginning in Massachusetts, hiring plans involving hundreds of people to build and test the analyzer, possible U.S. factories if pilots succeeded, and work toward fingertip blood collection. BEB’s current public pages reviewed do not independently confirm the investors, round structure, amount raised, hiring, pilot outcomes, factories, commercialization of fingertip sampling or continued use of the reported analyzer specifications. These remain historical claims from the profile, rather than verified current milestones.
Best Value
For investors, the distinction between a branded test business and an analyzer-development program matters. Useful diligence includes identifying which products generate revenue, which are made by BEB versus sourced from partners, who holds each clearance, what validation data support analyzer performance, and whether reported pilots are active or completed. The manufacturer named in the K233019 FDA record makes manufacturing responsibility a concrete question rather than an assumption. The current leadership page also leaves open how Zhang’s role relates to the company today.
Quick Recap
What should a buyer or partner verify before proceeding?
For consumers
- Confirm the exact product name, intended purpose, specimen type and whether the test is labeled for home use.
- Follow the package instructions and check the expiration date; understand what positive, negative, invalid or inconclusive results mean.
- Check whether symptoms or a consequential decision call for professional advice or confirmatory testing rather than relying on a rapid result alone.
For clinics and distributors
- Request the product-specific FDA record, intended-use labeling, performance evidence and quality-control instructions.
- Confirm specimen requirements, workflow fit, training, complaint handling, supply continuity and manufacturing location.
- Obtain written pricing, minimum order quantities and support terms; BEB’s reviewed pages do not publish these commercial details.
For investors
- Separate current product sales and OEM activity from prospective analyzer revenue.
- Request documentation for financing, pilots, staffing, manufacturing scale and intellectual-property claims before relying on the 2024 profile’s plans.
- Clarify current leadership roles and the respective regulatory responsibilities of BEB and manufacturing partners.
