BlockDAG’s Reported 2,240% Returns and $122.5M Presale: What the 2024 Claims Show

TechBullion reported a $122.5 million BlockDAG presale and returns above 2,240%, but its text does not show a reproducible calculation or a like-for-like full-year comparison with Ethereum and Solana.

A November 19, 2024, TechBullion article reported that BlockDAG had raised $122.5 million in its presale and that early participants had returns above 2,240%. But the article does not provide enough information to reproduce that return calculation, and its Ethereum and Solana price examples do not establish that BlockDAG outperformed either asset over all of 2024. Treat the headline figures as claims reported by the article, not verified investment results.

What the headline claims—and what it establishes

David Bryan’s November 19, 2024, TechBullion article reports a $122.5 million BlockDAG presale and returns above 2,240% for early participants. The available article text does not show supporting transaction records or a reproducible method for calculating either figure. The reported presale total and returns therefore should not be treated as independently verified.

In particular, the article does not identify the purchase date and price used for the return calculation, the comparison date and price, whether the figure represents realized proceeds or a hypothetical paper gain, or how token access, liquidity and fees were handled. Without those details, readers cannot confirm what investment or period the percentage describes.

Why the Ethereum and Solana comparison is not a full-year test

The article’s Ethereum and Solana examples cite prices above $3,200 and $200, respectively, in November 2024, along with changes over ten days for one asset and one week for the other. Those different short-term windows do not demonstrate a like-for-like comparison of BlockDAG, Ethereum and Solana across the full year.

A meaningful performance comparison would require the same start and end dates, consistent price sources and a disclosed calculation method. It would also need to distinguish BlockDAG’s presale offer price from exchange-traded prices and clarify whether the result is realized or hypothetical. The article text does not supply those elements, so its broad outperformance implication is not demonstrated.

What BlockDAG’s presale pricing says—and does not say

BlockDAG’s official wiki says its presale began in March 2024 and describes a 45-batch structure. The project’s pricing FAQ lists a batch 1 price of $0.001 and a batch 29 price of $0.0276; it says later batch details would be published on the official website. These are project statements, not evidence that buyers could sell at those prices or realized a particular return.

Comparing two offer prices alone leaves important details unresolved, including when a particular buyer purchased, eligibility for bonuses, when tokens were delivered, whether resale was available, market liquidity, fees and the endpoint used to calculate a gain. The batch prices therefore cannot independently validate the article’s 2,240% figure.

Token access and distribution, according to the project

BlockDAG’s official FAQ describes claiming through the BlockDAG dashboard and says no BDAG would be allocated on mainnet launch day, with distribution following a vesting schedule. These details matter when assessing whether a quoted presale price could translate into a realized return: a quoted or expected value is not the same as proceeds a holder can access and sell.

The project’s homepage describes BlockDAG as a proof-of-work Layer 1 using directed acyclic graph structure. That is the project’s description of its technology, not independent confirmation of the presale figures or investment performance.

How to assess a presale-return claim

Before relying on a percentage-return headline, look for the information needed to check the calculation:

  • Entry point: the purchase date, price and applicable eligibility or bonus terms.
  • Endpoint: the date and price used to value or sell the tokens.
  • Access: whether tokens had been delivered and could actually be transferred or sold.
  • Calculation basis: whether the return is realized or hypothetical, and whether fees and liquidity constraints are included.
  • Comparable assets: matched dates, price sources and calculation conventions for any Ethereum or Solana comparison.

For the figures in the TechBullion headline, the available article text does not disclose enough of this information to verify the return calculation or substantiate a full-year comparison with Ethereum and Solana.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
