BlockDAG’s CEO and Team Reveal: What Its $62.3M Presale Claim Means, Plus Arbitrum vs. BNB Chain

BlockDAG’s July 2024 announcement named Antony Turner as CEO and reported more than $62.3 million raised. Here’s how that dated claim compares with the project’s current status—and how Arbitrum Rollup differs from BNB Smart Chain.

BlockDAG’s July 31, 2024 team announcement named Antony Turner as CEO and said the project had raised more than $62.3 million—not $61.3 million. That was BlockDAG’s own historical report, not an independently audited figure or a current presale balance. Arbitrum and BNB Smart Chain, by contrast, have distinct architectures documented by their respective projects: Arbitrum Rollup settles to Ethereum, while BNB Smart Chain operates as its own EVM-compatible chain.

Who is BlockDAG’s CEO, and what did the team reveal?

In its July 31, 2024 post, “The Wait is Over, Today’s the BIG DAY: Meet Our BlockDAG CEO & Team,” BlockDAG identified Antony Turner as its CEO. The announcement characterized Turner as having 30 years of experience across fintech, education, travel, and consulting. That background description comes from BlockDAG; the available evidence does not independently corroborate it.

Did BlockDAG raise $61.3 million or $62.3 million?

The cited announcement supports the higher figure: BlockDAG said it had raised “over $62.3 million” as of July 31, 2024. The $61.3 million figure in the original headline does not match that announcement. The $62.3 million figure is a dated project claim, not an audited total, and should not be read as the amount raised today or as a current presale balance.

How do BlockDAG, Arbitrum, and BNB Smart Chain differ?

These names do not describe three equivalent network designs. Arbitrum Rollup is an Ethereum Layer 2; BNB Smart Chain is an EVM-compatible chain with its own consensus and validator model; BlockDAG describes its network as a Layer 1. The distinctions below reflect official protocol documentation for Arbitrum and BNB Chain and BlockDAG’s own descriptions.

Network or design Execution and settlement Data availability and consensus What the cited material establishes
Arbitrum Rollup Transactions execute on Arbitrum infrastructure; Ethereum is used for settlement. Rollup transaction data is posted to Ethereum. Arbitrum Nitro documentation describes optimistic assertions and interactive fraud proofs. These design details are described in Arbitrum’s introduction and Nitro documentation.
Arbitrum AnyTrust An Arbitrum chain design with its own execution infrastructure. It uses a Data Availability Committee model rather than posting all transaction data to Ethereum, relying on that committee under its documented assumptions. Arbitrum documentation distinguishes AnyTrust from Rollup; the two should not be treated as the same data-availability model.
BNB Smart Chain An EVM-compatible chain operating as its own network. BNB Chain documentation describes Proof-of-Staked-Authority (PoSA), with a limited validator set selected through staking-based governance. Operational parameters may change. The architecture and consensus description come from BNB Chain’s official documentation; check its current documentation for configuration details.
BlockDAG BlockDAG describes its project as a Layer 1. The project site describes a combination of Proof of Work and Directed Acyclic Graph architecture. Those are project descriptions. The cited material does not independently verify current mainnet operation, mining-device specifications, or hardware compatibility.

Is BlockDAG live, and what are its miners?

BlockDAG’s project pages promote X10, X30, and X100 mining hardware and make claims about its network and launch. The available evidence does not independently establish the network’s current operational status, the devices’ specifications or delivery, or whether general mining equipment is compatible. A project’s description of a Layer 1 or a mining product is not, on its own, proof that a live network or working device is available.

Before relying on a current claim, look for evidence tied to the specific question:

  • Token distribution: Look for verifiable token contract details and distribution information rather than relying only on a presale counter.
  • Exchange availability: Check the exchange’s own listing or market page; a project roadmap or announcement alone does not establish that trading is available.
  • Mining hardware: Verify the exact model, technical specifications, delivery terms, and compatibility with the live network before buying. Do not assume a generic ASIC or other miner will work.

As of the project pages described on October 8, 2026, launch, presale, miner, and exchange-related information remained project-controlled claims in the cited material. No independent confirmation of those changing claims was established there.

Which network architecture should you compare?

Start with what you mean by “Arbitrum”: its Rollup and AnyTrust designs make different data-availability assumptions. For BNB Smart Chain, the useful comparison is its own-chain PoSA model, not a claim that it is simply another Ethereum Layer 2. For BlockDAG, distinguish the project’s stated design and roadmap from independently verifiable evidence of present operation. These sources do not establish a reliable basis for blanket rankings of transaction speed, fees, or security across all three.
