The stated remit was to make games based on existing Blizzard franchises. Warcraft, StarCraft, and Overwatch were cited as possible examples, not as confirmed projects. No debut game was identified.
Is “AA” an established description of the team?
No. Although early coverage used “AA” to characterize the team, Windows Central added a qualification on August 5, 2024. Reporter Jez Corden wrote: “I’ve removed references to ‘AA’ here since a source has suggested to me that it doesn’t necessarily accurately reflect what the studio will be working on.” That is the reporter’s account of a sourcing caveat, not a statement from Blizzard or Microsoft. “Smaller games” is therefore the more careful description.

Game Developer’s August 2 coverage and GameSpot’s August 2 coverage both traced their accounts to Windows Central, rather than providing independent confirmation from the companies.

The cited reports date to August 2024 and do not establish the team’s current status, whether it has announced or released a game, or whether any project was cancelled. They also do not specify the team’s size, budget, genres, platforms, or schedule.
