What happened in the closest matching Bitcoin report?
CryptoSlate reported that 4,499.99987779 BTC moved on September 25, 2026. It estimated the transfer’s value at $379 million to $382 million and described the sending address as inactive for more than four years. Those details do not match a claim of $378 million in Bitcoin moved after six years. The estimated dollar value is a range, and the inactivity period reported was more than four years—not six.

Where did the six years and $378 million figures come from?
A February 3, 2025, Benzinga report described two Ethereum wallets that had been dormant for six years depositing a combined 135,548 ETH to Bitfinex. The report put the deposits at about $399 million and described $378.3 million as potential profit if the holdings were sold. That figure was conditional profit associated with Ethereum, not the value of a Bitcoin transfer. Benzinga’s report

Other large Bitcoin transfers are separate events
A July 16, 2026, report by The Block described a different transfer: 5,908 BTC, valued at $382.7 million, moved to a new address after eight years and six months of inactivity. It is not the September 2026 transfer, and it does not substantiate the six-year, $378 million claim. The Block’s report

Does a wallet transfer mean the Bitcoin was sold?
No. The September report documents an on-chain movement between addresses. It does not establish that the Bitcoin was sold, that beneficial ownership changed, or that the sender intended to sell. The reported destination output was unspent at the time of CryptoSlate’s check. An unspent output does not reveal what the controller might do later.

Who controls the wallet, and why did it move?
The cited reporting does not identify the wallet controller or establish a motive for the transfer. An on-chain transaction can show that funds moved between addresses, but that fact alone does not identify the person or entity behind either address or explain why the transaction occurred.
