Which Bihar Police SI recruitment does this notice cover?
Advertisement No. 09/2026 was for 150 Police Sub-Inspector posts in the Special Branch’s General Closed Cadre under Bihar’s Home (Police) Department. It was not a general opening for every Bihar Police SI role. BPSSC listed the advertisement on 3 July 2026 and added an apply-online link on 8 July; the application period then ran from 9 July through 9 August 2026. The official Advertisement No. 09/2026 is available for reference, but its application window has closed.
BPSSC’s notice board also carries later notices for Advertisement No. 05/2025, including notices posted on 21 and 23 September 2026. That is a separate recruitment; those notices do not reopen the 09/2026 application window. Check the advertisement number, cadre and status before using any application link.
Where to check for the next application link
- Open the official BPSSC website and review its notice board for a current Police SI advertisement or update.
- Open the relevant official notice and confirm its advertisement number, application dates, cadre and eligibility rules.
- Use only the application portal linked from that notice. Do not submit personal information or payment through an old third-party “apply now” page.
Bihar Police’s recruitment guidance page is another official reference, but BPSSC’s current advertisement is the authority for a particular recruitment’s application link and conditions.

Posts and category-wise vacancies
The advertisement announced 150 vacancies at pay level 6. Its vertical category allocation was:

The notice also sets out horizontal reservation details. Candidates should read the full advertisement to understand how those provisions apply alongside the category allocation.
Education and age
The notice required Indian nationality and a graduation degree or equivalent completed by 1 August 2025. Age was also calculated on 1 August 2025. For the general category, the stated age range was 20–37 years for men and 20–40 years for women; other categories have different limits and concessions. Check the full notice for the rule that applies to your category rather than relying on these general-category figures.
Physical standards
Physical measurement requirements differ by gender and category. The notice specifies minimum height and, where applicable, chest measurements; it sets a 48 kg minimum weight for women and does not require a chest measurement for women. Consult the advertisement’s standards for the exact threshold relevant to you.
How selection was structured
Preliminary written examination
The preliminary exam was objective, with 100 questions for 200 marks and a two-hour duration. The listed subjects included English, general knowledge, Hindi, reasoning and current affairs. The notice set a 30% minimum for candidates to be considered for the mains examination.
Mains written examination
The mains included an objective paper covering general studies and current affairs, mathematics and quantitative aptitude, reasoning and analytical ability, English, Hindi, and Bihar general knowledge. A descriptive paper covered Hindi and English essays, an English precis, and translation from Hindi to English.
Physical stage
Candidates who qualified through the written stages proceeded to physical efficiency and measurement testing, under the standards specified in the advertisement.

The closed 09/2026 notice required applicants to have an active mobile number and email address. Its online process described registration and payment followed by a second application section, including photograph and signature uploads. It allowed only one online application per candidate. These are details from the expired cycle; for any future recruitment, follow that cycle’s notice because its dates, steps and requirements may differ.
