There is no single, verified all-time ranking of NBA sponsorships: arena naming rights, team jersey patches and leaguewide partnerships sell different rights and disclose their prices differently. On the figures available, Crypto.com Arena’s reported naming-rights agreement is the largest total deal here, while the Warriors’ reported IREN patch agreement leads by annual value. Neither comparison includes player endorsement contracts.
How the biggest NBA sponsorship deals compare
The table separates contract totals from annual figures and market estimates. A reported or estimated value is not the same as a price publicly confirmed by the parties.
| Sponsor and rights-holder | Asset and coverage | Announcement or start | Stated term | Reported total value | Reported annual value | Disclosure and source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto.com and the downtown Los Angeles venue now called Crypto.com Arena | Venue naming rights; the venue was home to the Lakers, Clippers, NHL Kings and WNBA Sparks when the deal was reported | November 2021 | 20 years | $700 million | About $35 million per year on average, calculated from the reported total and term; the payment schedule was not disclosed | The Associated Press attributed the total to a person familiar with the agreement; the parties had not publicly announced financial terms. |
| IREN and the Golden State Warriors | Warriors jersey patch; the reported agreement also covers a warm-up jersey for the WNBA’s Valkyries and uniforms of the Santa Cruz Warriors | Reported June 30, 2026 | Not stated | Not stated | More than $50 million | Axios reported the annual figure; it was not stated in an official release reviewed here. Do not infer a total without a disclosed term. |
| Rakuten and the Golden State Warriors | Team jersey patch within a broader Warriors partnership that included other team designations | 2017 | Three years | $60 million | $20 million | Reported at launch as the NBA’s largest patch deal at that time. The reported total should not be treated as patch-only consideration because the broader partnership included other rights. |
| Nike and the NBA | Global merchandising and marketing partnership; official on-court apparel provider beginning in the 2017–18 season | Announced 2015; extension announced 2024 | Initial eight-year agreement; subsequent 12-year extension through 2037, covering the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League | Not disclosed in the official announcements | Not disclosed in the official announcements | The NBA and Nike announced the agreement and extension, but did not publish monetary terms in those announcements. |
| Emirates and the NBA | League partnership including title sponsorship of the Emirates NBA Cup, referee jersey branding, event activations, virtual in-arena signage and NBA content on Emirates flights | Multiyear partnership; announcement date not stated here | Multiyear | Not stated | Not stated | The Associated Press described the rights and activations; its account did not give a contract value. |
| Intuit and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Intuit Dome | Venue naming rights | Reported for the 2024–25 sponsorship season | Not stated | Not stated | Nearly $22 million | Industry estimate from IEG/Sponsorship.com in its 2024–25 snapshot, not an official contract disclosure. |
| NBA sponsorship market, across teams, venues and league rights | Season-wide market estimate, not a single sponsorship | 2024–25 | One season | $1.93 billion | Not applicable | IEG/Sponsorship.com estimate published in 2025; it attributed much of the season’s increase to the new venue. |
| NBA sponsorship market, across teams, venues and league rights | Season-wide rights-fee estimate, not a single sponsorship | 2021–22 | One season | $1.64 billion | Not applicable | Sports Business Journal, citing IEG’s Sponsorship Intelligence Database, reported the estimate in 2022. |
Why “biggest” depends on the kind of deal
Venue naming rights
A naming-rights contract attaches a sponsor’s name to a building and can serve several tenants, sports and events. It therefore has a different scope from a patch on one team’s uniform. The reported Crypto.com Arena amount is a contract total over a long term; comparing it directly with an annual patch price would mix two different measures.
Team jersey patches
A patch is a team-level sponsorship asset. Its value depends on the partner’s rights package, not just the space occupied on a jersey. The Warriors–Rakuten agreement, for example, was described as part of a wider partnership, so its reported value cannot safely be assigned entirely to the patch.

Leaguewide apparel and marketing rights
A league apparel agreement can include rights across teams and more than one league, as well as merchandising and marketing. That breadth makes it a major commercial partnership even when its monetary terms are not public. An undisclosed value cannot be ranked against deals with reported prices.
How NBA jersey sponsorships work
The NBA Board of Governors approved team jersey sponsorship sales in April 2016, with patches beginning in the 2017–18 season. The league’s 2016 announcement described patches as approximately 2.5 by 2.5 inches, placed on the front left opposite the Nike logo. Teams, rather than the league as a single seller, sell these patch rights.

A sponsor patch is not automatically present on a retail fan jersey. Under the league’s announced policy, standard retail player jerseys did not include patches by default; teams could choose to sell patched versions through their own retail outlets. Check the specific product listing if the patch matters to a purchase.
How to read the leaguewide sponsorship estimates
IEG/Sponsorship.com estimated total NBA sponsorship revenue at $1.93 billion for 2024–25, while Sports Business Journal reported IEG’s $1.64 billion estimate for team, venue and league sponsorship rights fees in 2021–22. These are estimates for different seasons and market scopes, not audited totals for one contract or necessarily identical measurements. They provide market context, but they do not establish a definitive ranking of individual deals.

For the same reason, a reported contract value is not a direct measure of a team’s profit, a sponsor’s return or the effect on ticket prices. The figures above describe rights arrangements or market estimates; they do not establish how much of a deal ultimately reaches any particular team or how each party accounts for it.

Player endorsement contracts are a separate category from sponsorships involving the NBA, its teams or venues. This comparison does not rank those individual deals, so it should not be read as a ranking of every commercial agreement connected to NBA players.
