Certifications answer different questions. GOTS is relevant to organic textile sourcing and processing. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 concerns testing for harmful substances. Neither, by itself, proves every environmental benefit or a particular performance outcome. The separate OEKO-TEX ORGANIC COTTON factsheet, Edition 01.2026, describes a certification for textile articles made with at least 70% organic cotton, prohibits mixing conventional and organic cotton under that certification, and requires traceable chain of custody; it also describes harmful-substance testing and product classes. Fit and value depend on more than fabric. A fitted sheet that is too shallow can pull off the corners, while a set with pieces you do not need may not be the best use of a tight budget.
