Best Polarized Ski Goggles: Anon M4, M5 and M6 Compared

Anon’s M4, M5 and M6 have listed Polarized Perceive options, but exact lenses vary by bundle. Compare VLT, fit, helmet compatibility and spare-lens needs before choosing.

The clearest verified polarized-goggle options in this guide are Anon’s M4, M5 and M6 when ordered with a specifically labeled Polarized Perceive lens. No single pair is best for every skier: confirm the exact lens in the selected bundle, then choose its visible light transmission (VLT), fit and spare-lens options for the conditions you ski. Anon’s catalog lists polarized versions, but that does not mean every lens or colorway in those model families is polarized.

Which polarized ski goggles should you shortlist?

Anon’s official catalog lists Polarized Perceive lens options for the M4, M5 and M6. These are credible candidates to compare, not a proven ranking of the best-performing polarized goggles on the market. Check the specific lens name and bundle before purchase; a model family may also be sold with non-polarized lenses. Anon’s current goggle catalog is the place to verify the configuration.

Model What is established What to verify
Anon M4 Catalog lists Polarized Perceive options; the model uses Magna-Tech and is compatible with MFI accessories. A listed example configuration includes a 6% VLT sunny lens and a 34% VLT spare lens. Whether the selected bundle includes the polarized lens, which VLTs are included, and whether a spare lens is part of that particular package.
Anon M5 Catalog lists a Polarized Perceive option. The M5 is described as flat-toric and uses Magna-Tech. Whether the selected lens is polarized and what the bundle’s actual lens configuration is; catalog examples include non-polarized options and varied VLTs.
Anon M6 Catalog lists a polarized Perceive option as well as bonus-lens bundles. Polarization, included spare lens and current availability for the exact configuration.

The VLT figures above are examples tied to listed Anon configurations, not standard specifications for every M4, M5 or M6. Product availability and bundles can change. Check the current catalog before buying.

How to choose a lens for the light you ski in

Use VLT to match lens darkness to conditions

VLT, or visible light transmission, is the share of visible light that passes through a lens. Higher-VLT lenses pass more light and are generally better suited to cloudy or low-light conditions; lower-VLT lenses are darker and suit bright sun. Smith’s guide gives 9–16% VLT for several named Sun lenses, including ChromaPop Sun Black and Sun Green, Platinum and Red Mirror. Those are product examples, not universal targets for every skier or brand. Smith’s lens-selection guide explains the relationship between VLT and light conditions.

#1 Best Overall
Anon M6 Perceive Polarized Goggles, Frame: Black, Lens: Perceive Sunny Polarized Onyx
  • Lens: cylindrical, Perceive Polarized technology, see size chart for lens tint information
  • Polarized: yes
  • Interchangeable Lens: Magna-Tech
  • Technical Features: Magnetic Face Mask Integration (MFI face mask included), anti-fog, over-the-glasses compatible
  • Face Size: medium–large

Consider a spare lens for changing weather

A single lens is a compromise when light shifts between bright sun and storm or flat-light conditions. Smith recommends an interchangeable kit with at least two lenses: one for brighter weather and one for stormier or low-light days. Which lenses come in the box depends on the goggle purchased, so confirm the bundle rather than assuming a second lens is included. Smith’s lens-toolkit guidance describes this approach.

Anon’s catalog examples illustrate the range: a Sunny Onyx lens at 6% VLT, a Variable Violet spare lens at 34%, and a Cloudy Pink lens at 53%. These are manufacturer-listed examples, not recommendations that every skier needs those exact values. Match any spare lens to the specific goggle’s attachment system and intended conditions.

  • The Anon Nesa Goggles combine a sleek, modern profile with a wide field of view and the clarity of Perceive lens technology. • Perceive Lens Technology. Perceive lens provides high-contrast vision and terrain-defining clarity in just about any light condition; A hydrophobic and oleophobic coating provides unmatched smudge, scratch, and moisture resistance on the outer lens surface for clear optics and easy cleaning.
  • Cylindrical Lens Shape, OTG. Cylindrical precurved lens wraps to the shape of the face; Over the Glass frame designed to accommodate prescription eyewear underneath the goggles.

What to compare beyond polarization

  • Exact lens configuration: Look for “Polarized Perceive” in the lens name or bundle details. A mirrored appearance or a model name alone does not establish polarization.
  • Fit and helmet pairing: Check face and bridge fit, pressure points and the interface with your helmet. A size label cannot guarantee a comfortable fit on your face.
  • Lens shape and view: Cylindrical, spherical and flat-toric designs are different options, not a universal good-to-better scale. Consider your preference and how the goggle sits on your face.
  • Lens-change mechanism: Compare how a lens attaches, whether it is quick to change, how secure it feels and whether a spare is included. Anon’s M4 and M5 use Magna-Tech; Smith MAG uses magnets with locking levers.
  • Prescription eyewear: If you wear glasses, look for an OTG (over-the-glasses) design and test it with your own frames and helmet.
  • Kit value: Compare the included lens set and the cost and availability of compatible replacement lenses, not just the goggle’s starting price.

Useful alternatives if polarization is not essential

The following models help compare shape, lens-change features, fit and budget. They are not presented as polarized: verify the exact lens SKU if polarization is a requirement.

Model Why consider it Price shown in REI’s guide
Smith 4D MAG ChromaPop REI’s Editors’ Choice in its seasonal guide; interchangeable spherical lenses, one additional lens included, and medium fit. A comparison option, not proof that the standard model is polarized. Starting at $348 when the guide was reviewed.
Smith Squad MAG ChromaPop Cylindrical lens, interchangeable Smith MAG lenses, one additional lens, medium/large frame sizing and locking levers. Starting at $265 in the guide.
Oakley Target Line L Lower-cost cylindrical option with a replaceable lens; not designed for quick interchangeable changes. $125 shown in the guide.
Smith Reason OTG Large cylindrical model intended to fit over prescription glasses. Test it with your own glasses and helmet. Starting at $80 in the guide.

These are prices reported in REI’s seasonal 2025/26 guide, not guaranteed current prices. Its comparisons cover broader goggle attributes; they do not establish a head-to-head polarized ranking. See REI’s ski-goggle guide for its criteria and seasonal product details.

How to check fit and buy the right configuration

  1. Choose the lens requirement first. If polarization is essential, confirm that the exact lens option says Polarized Perceive; do not rely on the M4, M5 or M6 model name alone.
  2. Match VLT to your usual conditions. Consider a darker, lower-VLT lens for brighter days and a higher-VLT spare for cloudy or low-light conditions if the goggle supports interchangeable lenses.
  3. Try the goggle with your helmet. Check for gaps, pressure at the nose or temples, and a comfortable seal. If wearing glasses, test the goggle over your own frames.
  4. Inspect the bundle and compatibility. Confirm what lenses are included, their VLT, the change mechanism and compatibility of any spare lens with the exact model.
  5. Recheck current stock and price. Lens configurations, seasonal bundles and prices can change between listings and purchase.

REI’s guide compares fit and helmet pairing as part of its evaluation. Its coverage of Smith MAG describes magnets for attachment and locking levers, a design that combines quick lens changes with a more secure feel. That is useful context when comparing change systems, but the right choice still depends on your preferred balance of convenience and confidence in the attachment. Read REI’s comparison details.
