Google specifically suggests two physical places for a review QR code: on receipts and on a display in your store. Neither is proven to outperform the other; choose based on where customers can comfortably notice and scan it. Google also lists thank-you emails and the end of a chat interaction as additional ways to share the request.
Where should I put a Google review QR code?
Google Business Profile Help recommends including the review link or QR code on receipts and printing the QR code for display in the store. These are suggested distribution points, not a measured ranking: Google’s guidance does not compare scan rates or show that either placement generates more reviews.
On a receipt
A receipt makes the review request available after checkout, when the customer has finished the transaction and can take the paper with them. Add the QR code where it is easy to find without obscuring transaction details. If you provide digital receipts, the same idea can be applied to the receipt message or layout.
On an in-store display
Print the code and put it somewhere customers can see it during or after their visit. A small countertop sign holder is one practical way to display a printout, but it is an optional implementation—not a Google requirement or endorsement. Consider whether the sign is visible while leaving the checkout area clear, and whether customers have time to scan it.

How to create and download the QR code
- On a computer, open the business’s Google Business Profile.
- Select Read Reviews, then Get more reviews.
- Download the QR code image and add it to the receipt or print it for an in-store display.
Google currently says this QR code can be generated in a computer browser, not on a mobile device. Interface labels may change; use the current review-request flow in the profile if they differ.

Other places to share the review request
Google also names thank-you emails and the end of a chat interaction as places to share the review link or QR code. They can complement a physical sign or receipt when those channels fit the customer interaction.
Keep the request neutral and policy-compliant
Ask for an honest review based on the customer’s genuine experience. Google Business Profile Help says reviews and other user contributions must reflect a genuine experience. It also states: “Offering incentives, like free or discounted goods or services, to customers in exchange for reviews is considered fake engagement and is strictly prohibited.” Do not offer a reward, discount, or free item in return for a review.

Google’s review tips note: “Honest and balanced reviews can help potential customers decide.” The QR code should make it convenient to leave feedback, not steer customers toward a particular rating or positive wording.

A sign that only displays your review link or QR code is different from marketing that reproduces a customer’s review or uses Google branding. Google Partner Marketing Hub says reviewers own their reviews and businesses must get consent to use them in marketing. It also warns against unofficial logos, badges, or lockups. Check those requirements before adding review text or Google marks to a designed sign: Google Partner Marketing Hub brand resources.
