The iPhone 14 Pro is a discontinued 2022 model, not Apple’s latest iPhone. Apple no longer sells it as part of its current lineup, so U.S. shoppers are most likely to find remaining reseller or carrier stock, refurbished units, and used phones. Apple’s former purchase page now leads to its current iPhone page (Apple Store).
There is no reliable universal “best price” for a used 14 Pro: storage, battery condition, lock status, warranty, and seller terms change the value substantially. For most buyers, a reputable refurbished or used seller is a lower-risk route than a carrier offer—provided the phone is unlocked, thoroughly checked, and substantially cheaper than a newer iPhone.
Where can you buy an iPhone 14 Pro now?
Apple’s current lineup includes newer models, and its official refurbished iPhone page did not list the 14 Pro when inspected. Remaining supply is mainly from resellers, marketplaces, refurbishers, or carrier inventory. Treat a listing described as “new” as new-old-stock or reseller stock, not a phone currently sold by Apple. A sealed unit, an open-box return, and a refurbished phone are different products; confirm the condition and seller’s warranty in writing.
- Apple’s current iPhone lineup is a useful comparison if the 14 Pro is priced too close to a newer model.
- Apple Certified Refurbished inventory changes; the inspected page did not show an iPhone 14 Pro.
- Best Buy search results may include clearance, open-box, or marketplace listings. Check who actually sells the phone.
- Back Market, Gazelle, and Swappa offer ways to compare refurbished or used stock; policies and inventory vary.
- Verizon and AT&T retain product pages, but a page is not proof of stock or a current promotion. T-Mobile’s inspected page said the model was no longer available and out of stock.
Do not use a search result or an old listing as proof that a phone is in stock. Prices and availability can change before checkout. The T-Mobile page displayed $899.99 full price and $25 per month for 36 months while also showing the phone as unavailable; those figures are not a usable live deal.

What is a fair price for an iPhone 14 Pro?
No dependable current U.S. price was established for a comparable unlocked 14 Pro, so a single dollar figure would be misleading. Judge the offer against a newer iPhone and the exact condition of the device. A higher sticker price can be worthwhile if it buys a real warranty, a clear battery standard, and a meaningful return window; a low price can be poor value if repairs or a replacement battery are likely.
- New or sealed: Consider it only when the total is clearly below a newer equivalent and the seller provides credible proof of condition, a return policy, and warranty terms.
- Professionally refurbished: Compare battery policy, parts policy, warranty length, condition grading, and returns—not just the grade name.
- Used in excellent condition: Often the value sweet spot if battery health is disclosed, the phone is unlocked, and you can test it or return it.
- Worn or damaged: The discount should account for likely repair or battery costs. Cosmetic grading alone does not establish battery condition.
- Carrier promotion: Compare the full cost of the required service and all conditions, not just the advertised device credit.
Before comparing listings, record the storage, condition, seller, unlocked status, battery guarantee, warranty, return period, shipping, taxes, activation or plan requirements, and total price. Compare like with like; a 128GB locked phone with no disclosed battery health is not equivalent to a 256GB unlocked refurbished phone with returns.
Which storage size should you choose?
Apple offered the iPhone 14 Pro in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities (Apple technical specifications). Check the actual capacity on the device at Settings → General → iPhone Storage, rather than relying only on the listing title.

- 128GB: Suits lighter users who stream and use iCloud Photos, but leaves less room for large photo and video libraries.
- 256GB: A sensible general choice for a used Pro phone, especially if you take many photos or videos.
- 512GB or 1TB: Consider these for extensive offline media or professional workflows. If ProRes recording matters, check the capacity-specific recording limits before buying.
How to compare a carrier deal with an unlocked phone
A carrier’s “free” phone commonly means monthly bill credits spread across an installment term, with conditions such as a qualifying plan, eligible trade-in, new-line activation, or staying with the carrier. Credits may stop if you cancel, change plans, or upgrade early; you may still owe an installment balance. Taxes and activation fees may be due upfront, and the final trade-in value can change after inspection.

Total effective cost = device payments + required service-plan premium + activation fees + taxes − trade-in credit − gift-card value you can actually use.
Rank #3
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
For the service-plan premium, count only the extra cost over the plan you would otherwise choose. If a promotion requires a more expensive plan for 36 months, compare that added cost plus fees with the unlocked phone’s price. A gift card is not the same as cash off the device, and an installment credit is not the same as an unlocked phone you can leave with.
A carrier offer is worth considering if you already want the required plan, qualify for the stated trade-in, and intend to stay for the whole credit period. Confirm that the offer applies to the iPhone 14 Pro itself, read the unlock policy, and check what happens to credits and any remaining balance if you leave.
How to check whether a used iPhone 14 Pro is safe to buy
- Confirm Activation Lock is removed. Have the seller erase the phone and let you begin setup. Do not buy a device that asks for the previous owner’s Apple Account; “iCloud unlocked” is not a substitute for verifying this yourself.
- Check the carrier lock. On the phone, open Settings → General → About and find Carrier Lock. It should say No SIM restrictions for an unlocked phone. Paid off does not necessarily mean unlocked. Where possible, verify the IMEI with the seller or carrier and check that it has not been reported lost or stolen.
- Verify eSIM compatibility. The U.S. iPhone 14 Pro is eSIM-only and has no physical SIM compatibility, according to Apple. Confirm that your carrier supports eSIM activation and that the phone’s model and network bands suit your intended service, especially for international travel.
- Inspect battery health. Open Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Compare the displayed health with the seller’s guarantee and your expected use; cosmetic condition does not tell you battery capacity.
- Review repairs and parts. Open Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History, if shown. Ask about any replacement parts and check for warnings. Non-genuine replacement displays can affect features such as touch, brightness, or True Tone.
- Test the hardware. Enroll and test Face ID; check the display for dead pixels, burn-in, tint, and touch failures; try every rear camera, autofocus, flash, portrait mode, and video. Test buttons, speakers, microphones, vibration, wired charging, and data transfer. Also test Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, cellular service, eSIM activation, and wireless charging or MagSafe if you rely on them.
- Read the seller’s terms. Check exclusions for battery, Face ID, liquid damage, and replacement parts, along with the actual return window. Test the device promptly while you can still return it.
The original model has an IP68 water-resistance rating under controlled conditions, but Apple says resistance can decrease with wear and liquid damage is not covered under warranty (Apple technical specifications). A used phone may have been opened or repaired, so do not rely on the original rating as protection against water.

Is the iPhone 14 Pro still worth buying?
It remains appealing if you want a compact 6.1-inch Pro iPhone with a 120Hz display and a dedicated telephoto camera. Apple lists a 6.1-inch OLED display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Dynamic Island, Always-On display, an A16 Bionic chip, and a camera system with a 48MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, 2x telephoto option, and 3x telephoto camera (technical specifications). It uses Lightning rather than USB-C.
The larger risk is the age and condition of the individual phone, not whether the launch-era specification sheet sounds capable. Battery wear, previous repairs, and uncertain remaining software support make the purchase more dependent on seller quality than a newer model. Do not assume that compatibility with an iOS release means access to every feature: software-version eligibility and hardware-gated features are separate questions. Check Apple’s current compatibility and feature lists before purchasing, and do not assume the A16-based 14 Pro supports Apple Intelligence features available on newer hardware.
A newer iPhone may be a better value if you prioritize USB-C, a fresh battery, longer expected support, newer connectivity, current Apple Intelligence features, or an Apple warranty. A newer standard model can still lack the 14 Pro’s telephoto lens or 120Hz ProMotion display, so compare the features you use rather than choosing by generation alone. Apple’s current lineup is listed at Apple.com.

iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max?
The 14 Pro is the 6.1-inch option and weighs 206 grams; the Pro Max has a larger screen and battery, and is physically larger and heavier. Both belong to the same generation and share the core processor and Pro camera concept (Apple technical specifications). Choose the 14 Pro for easier one-handed use and lower weight; choose the Pro Max if screen size and battery endurance matter more. On the used market, compare battery condition and total price before paying extra for the larger model.
Which buying route fits your priorities?
- Lowest-risk purchase: Choose a reputable refurbisher or retailer with clearly stated battery and parts policies, warranty coverage, and a real return period. The premium over a private sale may be worthwhile for recourse if a fault appears.
- Lowest potential upfront price: A marketplace may have more low-cost listings and storage choices, but requires careful checks of seller history, IMEI status, lock status, battery, repairs, and returns.
- Carrier customer already on the qualifying plan: Compare the promotion’s complete credit term and trade-in rules with an unlocked purchase; do not switch to a pricier plan without including the difference in your calculation.
- Buyer who wants a sealed unit: Treat it as reseller or clearance stock and pay only if the price, seller, return terms, and warranty make sense against a newer iPhone.
- Buyer who needs current features or a long runway: Compare a newer iPhone instead of stretching to buy a scarce 14 Pro at a near-new price.
Be wary of listings with stock photos only, no battery information, no verifiable IMEI, unusually low prices, vague “iCloud unlocked” claims, or no clear seller identity. An unlocked phone can still be reported lost, stolen, or subject to unresolved carrier restrictions.
