Swappa’s current price signal shows approximately $284 at the low end and $423 on average, although the exact price depends on storage, battery health, condition, carrier status and warranty coverage. See Swappa’s current iPhone 13 Pro pricing page.
New old-stock phones are much more expensive and often unavailable. AppleInsider’s August 17, 2026 price guide listed configurations from $699 to $1,499, with many listings sold out or unavailable. For most buyers, paying that much for a discontinued model is difficult to justify.

Quick verdict
| Buying route | Typical price signal | Best for | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Used, unlocked marketplace phone | About $284 low / $423 average on Swappa | Lowest practical price | Battery wear, parts history and seller quality |
| Professionally refurbished | Usually above the cheapest used listings | Returns, grading and warranty | Third-party parts and inconsistent battery policies |
| New old stock | $699 to $1,499 in listed examples | Buyers who specifically require sealed packaging | Scarcity-driven overpricing and limited availability |
| Carrier promotion | Varies by live offer | Eligible customers already planning to remain with a carrier | Trade-in, plan and multi-year bill-credit requirements |
Best value rule: look for an unlocked iPhone 13 Pro in the low-to-mid $300s with at least an acceptable battery, a clean IMEI, no Activation Lock, working Face ID and cameras, and a meaningful return period.
What an iPhone 13 Pro costs right now
The iPhone 13 Pro is no longer a normal current-generation Apple retail product. Apple still documents the model and its specifications on its iPhone comparison page, but Apple’s store lineup is focused on substantially newer iPhones.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.1" Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion. 5G Superfast downloads, high-quality streaming
- Cinematic mode in 1080p at 30 fps. Dolby Vision HDR video recording up to 4K at 60 fps. 6X Optical zoom range
- A15 Bionic chip. New 6-core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores. New 5-core GPU. New 16-core Neural Engine
- Up to 22 hours video playback. Face ID. Ceramic Shield front. Surgical-grade stainless steel
That leaves four different markets:
- Used marketplace inventory: normally the cheapest legitimate route. The headline price can be attractive, but listings vary widely in battery health, parts, storage and network status.
- Independent refurbished inventory: generally costs more than the cheapest private-market listing in exchange for inspection, grading, returns or a warranty.
- New old stock: rare inventory that can command an inflated price simply because it is sealed and discontinued.
- Carrier financing: sometimes lowers the device payment, but the real cost may be hidden in required service, trade-in conditions and bill-credit terms.
AppleInsider’s price guide observed prices of $699 for 128GB, $799 for 256GB, $999 for 512GB and $1,499 for 1TB on August 17, 2026. Those figures are listed old-stock prices, not broad market values, and several configurations were sold out or unavailable. Check the price guide before treating any listed price as buyable inventory.
Which storage capacity is the best deal?
The iPhone 13 Pro was sold in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities. Apple’s technical specifications and Swappa’s comparison data confirm the available tiers.
- 128GB: usually the cheapest option and sufficient for streaming, ordinary photos and users who rely on iCloud.
- 256GB: the best all-around value for many buyers who take lots of photos, record video, install games or plan to keep the phone for years.
- 512GB: worthwhile when the premium over 256GB is modest, particularly for frequent video recording.
- 1TB: usually poor value in 2026 unless you have a specific need for extensive offline video or professional storage.
Compare the extra cost per gigabyte rather than automatically choosing the largest capacity. A heavily worn 512GB phone may be a worse financial decision than a healthier 256GB model.

Used marketplace phones
A used marketplace listing can provide the lowest purchase price and the widest choice of colors and storage capacities. It may also let you inspect seller ratings and listing photographs before buying.
Rank #2
- 6.1" Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion. 5G Superfast downloads, high-quality streaming
- Cinematic mode in 1080p at 30 fps. Dolby Vision HDR video recording up to 4K at 60 fps. 6X Optical zoom range
- A15 Bionic chip. New 6-core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores. New 5-core GPU. New 16-core Neural Engine
- Up to 22 hours video playback. Face ID. Ceramic Shield front. Surgical-grade stainless steel
The trade-off is that seller descriptions are not standardized. “Unlocked,” “excellent condition” and “good battery” can mean different things to different sellers. Use a protected payment method and buy only when the return policy is clear.
Refurbished phones
Refurbished phones can reduce risk through inspection, condition grades, return windows and warranties. However, refurbished does not automatically mean Apple-refurbished. Independent refurbishers may use third-party screens, batteries or cameras, and battery-health guarantees differ by listing.
Before purchasing from Back Market, Amazon Renewed or another refurbisher, check the individual listing for:

Battery health changes the real price
Battery health is one of the biggest differences between two phones with the same storage and cosmetic grade. These are practical buying thresholds, not Apple certification standards:
- 90% or higher: excellent for a used phone.
- 85% to 89%: generally acceptable if the price is competitive.
- 80% to 84%: buy only with a substantial discount or a clear replacement plan.
- Below 80%: usually poor value unless the purchase price and likely battery replacement are included in the calculation.
Compare the total cost:
Purchase price + shipping and tax + likely repair cost
For example, a $285 phone needing a battery replacement may cost more than a $340 phone with 90% battery health and a warranty.
Are carrier “free iPhone” deals actually cheaper?
No current national carrier-specific iPhone 13 Pro promotion was verified in the available evidence. Do not rely on launch-era AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile promotions from 2021; those terms were tied to different inventory and eligibility rules.
Rank #4
- This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
- There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
- This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
- Product may come in generic Box.
When checking Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile, calculate:
Device payments + required plan cost + taxes and fees − trade-in credits − bill credits
A “free” phone may require a new line, a premium plan, an eligible trade-in and 24 to 36 months of bill credits. Credits may stop if you cancel the line, pay off the device early or change eligibility. The phone may also remain financed during the promotional period.

- Search the carrier’s current site specifically for “iPhone 13 Pro.”
- Confirm that the model is actually in stock.
- Check whether the deal is for new lines, upgrades, port-ins or existing customers.
- Read the eligible trade-in model list and condition requirements.
- Confirm the bill-credit schedule and payoff rules.
- Compare the required service cost with buying an unlocked phone.
For an existing customer who already intends to keep the same plan, a genuine credit promotion may work well. For someone changing carriers or accepting a more expensive plan solely to obtain the phone, an unlocked purchase is often easier to price accurately.

What to check before buying
Identity and network status
- Confirm it is the iPhone 13 Pro, not the iPhone 13 or 13 Pro Max.
- Verify the storage capacity.
- Check that the IMEI is clean and not reported lost or stolen.
- Confirm Activation Lock is disabled.
- Verify that the phone is unlocked if you plan to change carriers.
- Check compatibility with your preferred U.S. network, including any eSIM requirements.
Hardware inspection
- Face ID
- All three rear cameras, autofocus and optical zoom
- Front camera and flash
- Display for dead pixels, burn-in, green tint and touch problems
- True Tone
- MagSafe and wireless charging
- Lightning port
- Speakers, microphones, buttons and vibration motor
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 5G
- Battery health
On the phone, open Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History. Where available, this may show whether major components were replaced. An “Unknown Part” warning is a reason to investigate the repair history and confirm that every feature works; it is not, by itself, proof that the phone is unusable.
Do not assume an older used phone retains its original water resistance. Drops, repairs and opened seals can compromise protection, and water resistance should not be treated as a warranty.
Is the iPhone 13 Pro still worth buying?
It can be, especially for buyers who specifically want a compact 6.1-inch Pro iPhone. The model includes a Super Retina XDR OLED display, ProMotion up to 120Hz, the A15 Bionic chip, 5G, MagSafe and a triple-camera system with telephoto capability. It also supports ProRes and macro photography features. Review Apple’s specifications.

The compromises are age and purchase risk: used battery cells may be worn, the phone uses Lightning rather than USB-C, the stainless-steel design is heavier than newer Pro models, and a repaired device may have non-genuine components. It also has a shorter remaining software-support runway than newer iPhones, although Apple has not published a guaranteed support end date.
Compare the total price with a newer iPhone carrying a fresh battery, USB-C, a longer expected support runway and a full warranty. The 13 Pro makes the most sense when its 120Hz display and telephoto camera matter to you and its price is materially below that newer alternative.
Where each buyer should shop
- Lowest price: a reputable marketplace such as Swappa, with seller history, a clean IMEI and return protection.
- Lower risk: a professional refurbisher with at least a 30-day return period, a published battery policy and a clear warranty.
- Retailer purchase: check Best Buy for open-box or remaining inventory, but inspect the exact condition and availability.
- Carrier customer: review current offers directly at Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile and calculate the full service commitment.
- Apple: use Apple for specifications, trade-in information and comparisons with newer models, not as the likely source of ordinary new iPhone 13 Pro stock.
Trade-in considerations
If you are upgrading rather than buying the 13 Pro, Apple Trade In can provide an estimate online or at an Apple Store. Apple says the value depends on the device model, manufacturer and condition, and the estimate can change after inspection. Online trade-ins generally need to arrive within 14 days of receiving the new device to preserve the estimate. Review Apple’s current Trade In terms.
Bottom line
For most U.S. buyers, target an unlocked, healthy iPhone 13 Pro in the low-to-mid $300s and prioritize battery health, parts history, clean activation status, network compatibility and return protection over the absolute lowest headline price. Treat $699-plus new old-stock listings as specialty purchases, not bargains, and evaluate every carrier “free” offer by its total plan and financing cost.
