Recommended Free Tools
No: Battlefield 6’s full game is a paid purchase. EA’s separate Battlefield REDSEC experience is free to play, and Battlefield 6 has had limited-time trials. Neither makes the full game permanently free.
What is free—and what is not?
| Option | What it gives you | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Battlefield 6 | The full game, sold as a paid product. | EA lists digital purchase routes and says the game is also available at retail. Check the listing for your platform and region. EA’s purchase page; EA’s FAQ. |
| Battlefield REDSEC | A separate free-to-play Battlefield experience. | REDSEC is not the full Battlefield 6 game. EA’s Season 1 trial announcement. |
| Battlefield 6 trial | Temporary access to Battlefield 6 during a promotion. | EA says the trial requires REDSEC and game updates; full access requires purchase after the trial. Dates, duration and eligibility can change. EA’s purchase page; EA’s trial announcement. |
How much does Battlefield 6 cost?
EA’s purchase page currently displays $34.99 on the EA App, reduced from a $69.99 reference price. Treat that as a storefront snapshot, not a guaranteed price: the offer may be temporary or regional, and taxes may apply. Check the final checkout price for your region and platform. EA’s purchase page.
For context, EA announced launch MSRPs of USD $69.99 for Standard Edition and USD $99.99 for Phantom Edition in 2025. Those are historical launch prices, not current quotes; EA says offers may vary or change. EA’s launch announcement.
EA lists the EA App, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation and Xbox as purchase routes. It also says the game is available at retail; verify the format and stock of a specific listing before buying. EA’s purchase page; EA’s FAQ.

Standard or Phantom: what changes?
Both editions include the full game. Phantom adds cosmetic and progression-related extras, so the choice is about those additions rather than access to a different core game. EA lists Phantom Squad soldier skins, two weapon packages, a vehicle skin, a combat knife skin and a Battlefield Pro token with battle-pass-related benefits. Confirm the bundle’s current contents on the purchase listing before paying. EA’s FAQ; EA’s launch announcement.

How to check the price before you buy
- Choose your platform and region. Prices and listings can differ by storefront and location.
- Open the official purchase page or your platform’s store. Compare the full-game listing with any REDSEC listing so you do not mistake the free-to-play experience for Battlefield 6.
- Check edition, promotion and final checkout total. Confirm whether the displayed price is discounted, whether taxes apply, and what the edition includes.
- For a retail copy, verify the exact format and stock. EA’s general retail availability statement does not establish that a particular platform’s disc or listing is in stock.
Can you play Battlefield 6 for free?
Only if a limited-time trial is currently available to you, or if you play REDSEC rather than the full game. A trial is temporary and may have platform or eligibility requirements; its availability and terms can change. If you want the complete Battlefield 6 game after a trial ends, EA says you need to purchase it. EA’s purchase page; EA’s trial announcement.
