Later reports put the amount at either £2 million, potentially rising to £3 million, or £2.5 million. Neither figure is confirmed as the official fee, and the available reporting does not establish that rival clubs were bidding for him.
What happened to the proposed Barnsley valuation?
The headline’s suggestion that Barnsley should demand a major seven-figure fee belongs to a historical transfer discussion, not a current Barnsley sale negotiation. Wrexham signed Keillor-Dunn from Barnsley on February 2, 2026, and the signing report described the fee as undisclosed. Field Level Media reported that Keillor-Dunn joined Wrexham; its announcement did not give a transfer amount.
The original source, speaker and evidence behind the “there could be a bidding war” wording have not been identified. It should therefore be read as a claim in the headline, not as a confirmed statement from Barnsley, a named adviser or a documented account of competing offers.
How much was the fee reportedly worth?
Later coverage offered estimates, but they differ and do not override the signing report’s undisclosed-fee description.

| Report | Reported figure | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Barnsley Chronicle, February 2026 | £2 million, potentially rising to £3 million | A media-reported estimate that may include additions; not an officially disclosed fee. |
| The League Paper, September 6, 2026 | £2.5 million | A different media-reported estimate; not an officially disclosed fee. |
These accounts do not provide a verified breakdown of guaranteed money, add-ons or payment timing. The evidence supports saying the transfer was reported to be worth a seven-figure sum, but not naming a definitive price. Nor do the differing estimates prove there was a bidding war: no competing offer amounts are established in these reports.
Why was Keillor-Dunn valued as a significant asset?
The February signing report said Keillor-Dunn had scored 13 goals in 24 Barnsley appearances that season and 19 goals in his first Barnsley season. A later Barnsley Chronicle retrospective reported 35 goals in 78 Barnsley appearances. Those are distinct period and career totals, not interchangeable measures; the reports may use different cutoffs or competition scope.

Keillor-Dunn’s scoring record helps explain the interest in his transfer value, but it cannot establish what Barnsley could have obtained in negotiations. The available reporting does not document competing bids or a club-set asking price. In the signing report, Keillor-Dunn said, “If there’s one club that’s calling, it’s Wrexham you want to go to,” while Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said, “We’d like to welcome Davis to the club.” Field Level Media attributed both statements.

By September 2026, reports described Sheffield Wednesday as pursuing or completing a loan move for Keillor-Dunn from Wrexham. The League Paper’s September 6 report discussed the Wednesday move alongside its fee estimate, while bet365 News UK reported late-window interest. These are time-sensitive secondary reports; without a current club announcement, they do not by themselves settle his definitive contract status.

The later loan coverage underscores why the Barnsley valuation headline needs a date attached: Barnsley’s sale to Wrexham had already taken place, and any subsequent move concerned Wrexham’s player rather than an active Barnsley transfer negotiation.
