Avnet Asia Pte. Ltd. opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore in 1999, combining a regional distribution center with corporate offices. The November 3 announcement also named Rob Hagen president of Avnet Asia and set out his reporting line to Brian Hilton.
What Avnet opened in Singapore
EDN reported on November 3, 1999, that Avnet Asia Pte. Ltd. held a grand opening ceremony at Singapore Expo for its new Asia-Pacific headquarters. The announced site measured 36,000 square feet, according to EDN’s contemporaneous report, and brought together a pan-Asia distribution center and corporate offices.
The offices housed management, sales, customer service, marketing, inventory management, supplier management, finance and IT functions. EDN said the center supported Avnet’s operations in 13 Asia-Pacific countries; that figure describes the 1999 report, not a current regional country count. EDN’s November 3, 1999 report
Who was named president of Avnet Asia?
Avnet named Rob Hagen president of Avnet Asia. He reported to Brian Hilton, then president of Avnet Electronics Marketing’s international operations. Hagen had relocated to Singapore in June 1999 as co-president, sharing responsibilities with Hilton. This is a historical appointment, not evidence that Hagen is a current Avnet executive. That later release does not establish who holds the role today. Avnet’s July 22, 2019 announcement
What Avnet’s current Singapore listing establishes
Avnet’s current locations page lists Avnet Asia Pte Ltd. in Singapore as its Asia-Pacific headquarters. That confirms the current listing, but it does not show that the present location is the same physical facility opened in 1999. Avnet locations
