BITKRAFT Ventures and Hashed co-led the round, according to GamesBeat. Avalon describes the project as a shared universe where players can move between official and player-created worlds with their characters and progress intact. The company says the game is coming to PC and consoles, but the available announcement does not give a release date or hardware requirements.
What the $10 million round is funding
The funding was announced for development of Avalon’s eponymous debut MMO. GamesBeat reported that BITKRAFT Ventures and Hashed co-led the round. Its article and the Avalon announcement excerpt it quotes name different sets of participating investors, so those names should not be treated as one definitive, exhaustive investor list.
GamesBeat framed the goal as a next-generation MMO built to connect assets and progression across worlds and appeal to both Web2 and Web3 players. Avalon CEO Sean Pinnock described the project’s technology as a potential shift in how games are made and played; that is his claim about the project, not independent evidence that the technology has achieved that result.
How Avalon says its shared universe will work
Avalon’s official website presents the game as a universe organized around a central hub. From there, players would be able to enter official realms as well as player-created worlds, dungeons, PvP arenas, and other experiences. The company says characters, progress, gear, and creations persist across that universe.

The concept combines several different activities rather than describing a single conventional MMO loop:
- Play: fight, explore, take on dungeons, and compete in PvP arenas.
- Create: build worlds, host events, and shape environments using tools Avalon describes as supporting natural-language instructions for terrain, structures, and world rules.
- Trade and craft: make and exchange items through a player economy and marketplace.
- Socialize: form guilds and encounter intelligent NPCs, which Avalon promotes as part of the planned experience.
The company also promotes a creator program with revenue sharing. The website presents these systems as features of the project, but the available material does not establish which individual systems are currently playable or how creator compensation would work in practice.

What “hybrid Web3 MMO” means here
In the 2024 funding coverage, the Web3 framing centers on interoperability: the idea that assets and progression could carry between worlds. In a later interview published March 31, 2025, OpenSea described Avalon as built on Base and discussed blockchain-based digital ownership alongside player-generated content.
Those descriptions explain the project’s positioning, not proof that every planned feature is implemented. The sources do not establish a complete live feature set, nor do they confirm that all items, characters, or progress can already move across worlds. The practical distinction for a prospective player is between the announced design and functionality that can be verified in a released game.

What is known about technology and partnerships
GamesBeat’s April 15, 2024 report described a modular building system, use of Unreal Engine technologies Nanite and Lumen, and AI-assisted creator tools. It also reported partnerships with Inworld AI for NPCs and Didimo for character variations. These are details from the 2024 report; they should not be read as confirmation of a later release date or of the current state of each integration.

Avalon says it is coming to PC and consoles. The official site does not establish a launch date, specific console models, minimum PC specifications, or a confirmed release schedule. Those details therefore remain unknown based on the cited material; there is not enough information to assess whether a particular computer or console will run the game.
