Australian homewares retailer GIGI&TOM announced in January 2025 that it would close after three years. The company said it had struggled to secure continued investment amid an unpredictable business environment. At the time, it said it was not entering administration, would fulfil orders until stock ran out and planned a final closing-down sale. Those announcements do not confirm whether the business, sale, stock or customer services are available now.
What GIGI&TOM announced
PerthNow reported on 16 January 2025 that the retailer had announced its closure. The company’s statement said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you we are closing our business GIGI&TOM.” It also said the decision followed “an unpredictable path for entrepreneurship” and difficulty securing continued investment in the prevailing business environment. That is the company’s explanation as reported at the time; the available reporting does not establish a fuller financial cause.
The company also said the decision had not been easy and thanked customers for their support over the previous three years. PerthNow reported that GIGI&TOM said it was not going into administration, would fulfil orders placed until stock ran out and planned a final closing-down sale. These were statements made around the announcement, not confirmation of current stock, order fulfilment, returns or website availability. PerthNow’s closure report is dated January 2025.
What the retailer sold
GIGI&TOM was a Sydney-based homewares brand launched in late 2021 by Abbie Evans. A 2023 profile said Evans had worked for 25 years as a retail buyer for David Jones and TK Maxx. The profile described the range as affordable, trend-led home accents, produced in relatively limited runs, with prices starting at $10 at that time. That historical starting price is not a current price or evidence that products remain available.

What is known—and not known—about its status now
The announcement report said GIGI&TOM was not going into administration. It did not provide audited accounts or independently verified financial figures, so the closure should not be described as proof of insolvency. PerthNow also reported that the brand had more than 100,000 Instagram followers; that figure was reported by the outlet and was not independently verified in the available material.
Current trading status, remaining inventory and the handling of orders or returns are not established by the January 2025 report. The retailer’s terms identify Haeven Pty Ltd trading as Gigi and Tom and say products were subject to availability and delivery was within Australia. However, those terms were last updated in November 2021, so they do not establish present-day operating or delivery conditions. The terms page is historical context, not confirmation of current service.
