What Audible Standard includes
Audible announced Standard on March 3, 2026, for the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany, and France, with testing underway in additional marketplaces. In the U.S., the launch price was $8.99 per month. Standard provides one audiobook selection each month from Audible’s full catalog, plus unlimited ad-free listening to a curated selection of Audible Originals and nearly 200 popular titles previously available on Wondery+.

The monthly audiobook selection is not a permanent purchase: Audible says it remains accessible only while the Standard membership is active. The included listening selection is also distinct from Premium’s full unlimited-listening catalog. Audible’s announcement describes the plan and its launch markets.

The monthly price difference is $5.96 in the U.S. at the prices shown. The central trade-off is not simply lower versus higher cost: Standard gives lighter listeners a lower monthly bill, while Premium Plus offers a broader listening catalog and a credit that buys a title to keep. Audible’s U.S. membership page currently displays trial offers alongside its prices; an offer may depend on eligibility, so check the terms shown for your account.

Which plan makes sense for your listening habits?
Standard may suit you if you listen to one audiobook a month
Standard is the more budget-conscious fit if you mainly want one monthly pick and expect to use the curated included-listening selection. Compare that selection with the titles you actually want before joining: the one monthly pick can come from the full catalog, but unlimited listening does not.
Premium Plus may suit you if keeping audiobooks matters
If you want your monthly audiobook to remain yours after ending the subscription, Premium Plus’s credit is materially different from Standard’s monthly selection. Audible says credit-purchased titles can be kept regardless of membership status. That distinction can matter if you cancel periodically or revisit books over time.

Check the displayed offer before deciding
Audible’s U.S. pricing page may show a trial offer as well as recurring membership prices. Its page accessed October 7, 2026, also lists Premium Plus annual plans at $149.50 for 12 credits and $229.50 for 24 credits. These are displayed U.S. prices, not evidence that every customer qualifies for a trial; confirm the offer and renewal terms presented to you.

Audible Chief Financial & Growth Officer Cynthia Chu said the Standard plan was intended to serve different listening habits and expand access for lighter listeners. Audible also reported that early testing in the U.K. and Australia produced a “strong double digit percentage increase” in new sign-ups compared with previous offerings. That is a company-reported early-testing result, not an independently verified figure.

Audible projected that expansion across the launch markets would bring millions of new consumers into its service over the following year. That is a company projection, not a confirmed outcome.
