Before comparing the offers, open the current product page and verify the exact configuration, price, and terms shown at checkout. A headline discount alone does not establish the amount you will pay or whether the offer is worthwhile.

- Confirm the checkout price and availability. Check that the item is in stock and that the displayed price carries through to checkout; account for any shipping or other charges shown there.
- Check the seller and fulfillment. For marketplace listings, distinguish the retailer hosting the listing from the company selling and shipping the item. The historical PS5 offer was attributed to Antonline and fulfilled by Walmart; that does not verify the seller or terms of a current listing.
- Verify the reference price. Compare the live price with a current, clearly stated reference price rather than assuming the December 2025 MSRP comparison still applies.
- Read the return and warranty terms. Confirm which seller’s policies apply and whether the offer changes the usual return or warranty arrangements.
- Check what the bundle includes. Verify the game and any other included items on the product page; do not infer current bundle contents from an older promotion.
What the report says about the ROG Xbox Ally
HotHardware described the Ally as the less expensive of the two Xbox-branded handhelds ASUS had released at the time. The article listed a 7-inch 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness; an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor with 4 cores and 8 threads; 16GB LPDDR5-6400 memory; a 512GB PCIe 4 SSD; two USB-C ports; and a microSD card reader. These are specifications reported in that December 2025 article, not a fresh verification of the exact model’s current manufacturer listing.
For launch context, Xbox Wire announced that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X became available worldwide on October 16, 2025, across 45 countries. Its announcement presents them as handheld devices for taking games on the go. See Xbox Wire’s October 16, 2025 announcement.

How the two offers differ
The Ally is a handheld gaming PC-style device, while the other offer was a PS5 Slim console bundle with a disc drive and a named game. Their reported discounts do not make them direct performance comparisons. Decide based on the kind of system you want, the exact current configuration and bundle, and the total price and terms on the listing you would actually buy.
HotHardware also said Sony had raised PS5 console prices in August and that the disc-drive PS5 Slim’s MSRP had increased from $499.99 to $549.99. Those are claims made in the 2025 article and are not confirmation of current MSRP or pricing. Treat any present-day reference price as something to verify independently before judging the reported $149.99 saving.
