ASUS PC Price Increases: What the RAM and Storage Reports Actually Say

Reports described targeted ASUS PC price adjustments from January 2026 and later Taiwan-market expectations of 25–30% increases in Q2. Neither establishes a worldwide increase across all models.

ASUS was reported to have planned targeted PC price adjustments beginning January 5, 2026, and later Taiwan-market reports anticipated increases of 25–30% in the second quarter. Neither report establishes a uniform increase across every ASUS computer or country. The main cost pressures cited were DRAM and NAND storage; later local reports also cited CPU supply constraints.

Is ASUS raising PC prices because of RAM and SSD costs?

Reports point to price pressure, but the scope and certainty differ by report. TrendForce said on December 31, 2025, that an industry notice indicated ASUS planned adjustments for selected product lines from January 5, 2026. The notice did not establish a price change for every model or market. TrendForce’s December report identified rising memory costs as the rationale. Tom’s Hardware likewise noted that the initial announcement did not specify the size of the increase. Tom’s Hardware’s coverage

A later report concerned a different point in time and a narrower geography. On March 24, 2026, TrendForce summarized Taiwanese media reports anticipating ASUS PC price increases of 25–30% in Q2, with further upward movement expected in Q3. These were reported expectations for Taiwan, not a confirmed global schedule or a verified increase for every ASUS model. The local reports cited memory and CPU costs. TrendForce’s March report

When did ASUS PC prices go up?

The reports describe plans and expectations, not a verified record of prices actually paid. The January 5 date was the reported start of targeted adjustments; the later 25–30% figure was an expectation for Q2 in Taiwan. Neither source supplies a complete list of affected products, local retail prices, or a confirmed model-by-model schedule. A retailer’s current price for a specific configuration is therefore more useful than applying either report’s figure across the ASUS range.

How much could rising memory costs affect PC prices?

Gartner’s February 26, 2026 forecast provides industry context, not confirmation of ASUS pricing. Gartner estimated that combined DRAM and SSD prices would be 130% higher by the end of 2026 than in 2025, and projected PC prices to rise 17% over the same comparison. It also forecast a 10.4% decline in worldwide PC shipments in 2026 versus 2025. These are estimates, not final observed results or ASUS-specific figures. Gartner’s forecast

Gartner also forecast that “The sub-$500 entry-level PC segment will disappear by 2028,” in a statement attributed to Ranjit Atwal, Senior Director Analyst at Gartner. That is an analyst forecast about the broader PC market, not an ASUS announcement or a description of today’s product lineup.

What should you check before buying an ASUS PC?

Because affected models and local prices are not established by these reports, compare the exact configuration available where you live rather than assuming a percentage increase. Check the total price alongside included memory and SSD capacity, upgradeability, intended workload, and warranty coverage. Confirm that the configuration meets your needs before paying extra for specifications you will not use.

ASUS’s September 29, 2026 PC-building guide says memory-kit prices may challenge builders and suggests looking for component combo deals or considering a prebuilt desktop. It notes that availability varies from day to day and does not promise how long deals will last. These are options to investigate, not guaranteed savings or proof that a particular PC is cheaper. If you are upgrading a desktop

A DDR5 desktop memory kit makes sense only if your system is compatible and you have a genuine need for more memory. Check the motherboard or system documentation for supported memory type, capacity, and speed before buying. Desktop memory is not a solution for most laptop upgrades, and buying RAM does not offset a new computer’s price.
