ASUS has extended its manufacturer warranty for qualifying consumer and gaming notebooks purchased in Germany to three years. The policy applies to eligible products bought from October 1, 2025, provided the notebook was manufactured on or after January 1, 2024. It is not a blanket worldwide warranty change: buyers in the United States and other countries must check their local ASUS terms.
What ASUS changed
ASUS Germany says qualifying ASUS and ROG laptops now receive 36 months of manufacturer warranty coverage, measured from the end customer’s purchase date. The named notebook families are Vivobook, Zenbook, ProArt, TUF Gaming, and ROG.

The change is a manufacturer warranty, not an insurance policy or a replacement for statutory consumer rights. In Germany, statutory consumer protections remain separate from ASUS’s voluntary warranty. The published policy is also not retroactive: notebooks bought before October 1, 2025 should not automatically be treated as having three years of coverage.

Eligibility depends on two dates
For the published German offer, both of these details matter:
- Purchase date: October 1, 2025 or later.
- Manufacturing date: January 1, 2024 or later.
A notebook bought after October 1, 2025 but manufactured before January 1, 2024 should not be assumed to qualify. The exact model and serial-number record remain important, so retain the original invoice and verify the warranty with ASUS.
If proof of purchase is unavailable, ASUS says it may use the manufacturing date as the purchase date for warranty purposes. That can make the effective coverage period less favorable than using the actual invoice date.

The warranty generally covers defects in materials and workmanship that occur during the warranty period under normal and proper use. ASUS may repair the defective component or replace parts or the product with new or refurbished components or products that are functionally equivalent or better.
A repaired or replacement component generally remains covered only for the remainder of the original warranty period, subject to the minimum coverage stated in ASUS’s terms. ASUS may also restore the notebook’s original operating-system configuration during service.

This is defect coverage, not protection against every costly laptop problem. It does not generally cover:
- Accidental drops, spills, or liquid damage
- Misuse, improper handling, or improper installation
- Unauthorized modifications
- Normal wear and tear or cosmetic damage
- Theft or loss
- Software defects as such
- Failures caused by events outside ASUS’s control
Charges may apply if ASUS determines that the problem falls outside the warranty.

Three years does not usually mean three years for the battery
ASUS Germany’s notebook warranty table generally lists 12 months of coverage for notebook and gaming-notebook batteries. Some commercial notebook series may have battery coverage matching the product warranty, but that exception should not be generalized to consumer or gaming models.
Bundled accessories may also have shorter coverage. ASUS lists examples such as:
- Battery, dongles, and styluses: commonly 12 months
- Cables and bundled mice: potentially excluded, depending on the terms
- Adapters and power cords: often covered according to the applicable product terms
Gaming accessories, docking equipment, cameras, plugs, and optical drives can have different coverage periods. Check the warranty card and the exact product support page rather than assuming every item in the box receives 36 months.

Chromebooks require extra caution
Chromebooks should not automatically be included in the German three-year offer. A reported clarification indicated that Chromebooks were excluded, although coverage should still be checked against the exact model and serial number because ASUS’s general promotional wording names major notebook families rather than every possible laptop product.
Before buying a Chromebook on the assumption that it has three years of warranty protection, obtain confirmation from ASUS or the retailer for that specific model.
The policy is Germany-specific
The most important limitation is geography. ASUS’s three-year page expressly says its information applies only to Germany. It does not establish that every ASUS notebook sold in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, or another market receives the same coverage.
Do not assume that a U.S. purchase qualifies because a German ASUS page advertises three years. Warranty duration can vary by country, product category, SKU, and serial-number record. The ASUS USA warranty information should be consulted for U.S. purchases, but buyers should verify the exact product rather than relying on a generic regional page.

How to verify a notebook before buying
- Find the notebook’s serial number and exact model or SKU.
- Keep the original invoice or other proof of purchase.
- Open ASUS support for the country where the notebook will be purchased.
- Check the warranty information shown for the model or serial number.
- Confirm the purchase-date and manufacturing-date requirements.
- Ask ASUS support for written clarification if the invoice, product listing, and serial-number record conflict.
Retailer listings may contain generic warranty language. The country-specific ASUS page, the invoice, and ASUS’s serial-number record are stronger evidence when warranty duration affects the buying decision.
What to do before making a warranty claim
Back up the notebook before sending it for service. ASUS’s warranty terms warn that repair may permanently delete stored data, and ASUS does not promise to back up or restore customer files.
Also record the problem, photograph the notebook’s condition, remove sensitive information where possible, and note which accessories you send. ASUS may use refurbished parts or products, and repair can involve downtime. If the fault is outside warranty, shipping, labor, or component charges may apply.

Should you buy an extended warranty?
In Germany, ASUS says its Premium Care options can extend eligible notebook and gaming-notebook coverage to a maximum total of three years. Commercial notebooks may be eligible for up to five years. Availability, pricing, activation deadlines, and benefits depend on the market and product.

An extension may make sense when the local notebook warranty is shorter than three years. It is less useful when the product already includes three years, and it should not be confused with accidental-damage protection. Separate services may cover accidental damage, onsite service, battery replacement, or other risks, but availability is model- and market-specific.
Before paying for protection, compare:
- The included warranty on the exact SKU
- Battery and accessory coverage
- Accidental-damage exclusions
- Repair shipping and downtime
- Deductibles or service fees
- Whether refurbished parts may be used
Retailer protection plans, credit-card benefits, or self-insuring are possible alternatives, but each has its own exclusions and documentation requirements.
Bottom line for buyers
ASUS’s three-year notebook warranty is real for qualifying consumer and gaming notebooks purchased in Germany from October 1, 2025, subject to the January 1, 2024 manufacturing-date condition and model-level verification. It is valuable coverage for hardware defects, but it does not usually provide three years of battery protection, accidental-damage coverage, or protection against loss and theft.
