The proposed equity changed during negotiations, and the available reporting does not establish the final stake or confirm that the investment closed.
What deal did Arshad Khan get on Shark Tank Pakistan?
Khan and Hasan initially sought PKR 10 million for 5% equity in Café Chai Wala. The Indian Express reported that investor Rabeel Warraich offered the requested PKR 10 million for 24% equity, with Romanna Dada joining his offer. After negotiations, the founders accepted the offer on air. The report does not specify the final equity percentage agreed after negotiation, so 24% should be treated as Warraich’s reported proposal, not a confirmed executed stake. The Indian Express’s November 15, 2024 report describes the pitch and negotiations.
The reported exchange was an on-air agreement, not verified proof of completed funding. The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Digital Report 2025 lists Arshad “Chai Wala” Khan’s PKR 10 million investment among notable deals. It also says 4 of 36 deals had secured funding after due diligence in the report’s cited account. That is a show-wide figure; it does not confirm whether Café Chai Wala’s deal closed.
What is Café Chai Wala?
The business described in the pitch was a café chain operating on a franchise model, rather than a documented packaged-tea product line. Khan said his photograph went viral in 2016, after which he began modeling and acting. He also described having wanted to open a café while working at someone else’s dhaba. Indian Express reproduced his account from the televised pitch:

A lot of people advised me to start my own café. I had always wanted my own café, even when I was working at somebody else’s dhaba.”
Hasan said their first café opened as a rooftop venue in Islamabad in 2020, was disrupted by the pandemic, and relaunched in October. The report does not specify the year of that October relaunch.

What did the founders say about the business?
The following figures were claims Hasan made during the pitch, as reported by Indian Express; they are not independently audited operating data:
- Two operational outlets in Pakistan and three in England.
- Pakistan franchise rights priced at PKR 35,000, with a 5% royalty.
- UK franchise fees of £150,000 to £200,000.
- Revenue above £1,000 per outlet.
The report does not give a period for the revenue figure, so it cannot be read as a monthly or annual amount. These were pitch-time claims, not verified current outlet counts, franchise terms, or revenues.

How did the Shark Tank negotiation unfold?
According to Indian Express, Junaid Iqbal declined, citing a lack of hospitality-sector expertise, and Faisal Aftab also exited. Warraich then proposed PKR 10 million for 24% equity, citing low revenues and the need for hands-on support. Dada offered to join him, while Usman Bashir reportedly countered at 30%. Khan and Hasan accepted Warraich and Dada’s offer after negotiations. The account does not establish the final percentage or other terms in any signed agreement.

The sources cited here establish an offer accepted on the show and an OICCI report that later lists the PKR 10 million investment among notable deals. They do not establish that due diligence concluded, that funds were transferred, or what final terms were executed. The OICCI statistic about funding across all reported deals does not settle the status of this particular agreement.

Accordingly, it is accurate to call it a reported on-air deal or accepted offer, but not confirmed completed funding. The available evidence also does not verify Café Chai Wala’s current operations or franchise terms.
