Arkansas Ranked 8th for Rising Mortgage Rates in Q2 2026

Arkansas reportedly had the eighth-largest mortgage-rate increase from Q1 to Q2 2026, but the state average is not an individual borrower’s quote.

Arkansas ranked eighth among states for the largest mortgage-rate increase from the first to the second quarter of 2026, according to figures attributed to WalletHub in an October 5 report by Jonesboro Right Now. The report puts Arkansas’s Q2 average at 5.13% and its increase at 1.04%. Those are reported state-level figures, not a forecast or a rate any individual borrower is guaranteed to receive.

What the Arkansas ranking says

Jonesboro Right Now reported that WalletHub ranked Arkansas eighth for the biggest mortgage-rate increase from Q1 to Q2 2026. The local report gives Arkansas an average rate of 5.13% in Q2 and says the average rose 1.04% from Q1. It does not explain the underlying data series or whether 1.04% means a relative percentage change or a percentage-point increase. The linked WalletHub study was unavailable for independent review, so the figures and ranking should be understood as the local report’s account of WalletHub’s findings.

The rank concerns the size of the reported increase, not the level of Arkansas rates. It does not mean Arkansas had the eighth-highest mortgage rate, nor does it show that every Arkansas borrower’s rate rose by 1.04%.

How Arkansas compared with other states

The same report says average mortgage rates increased in 37 of the 50 states between Q1 and Q2 2026. It identifies these largest movements:

Mississippi 1.92% increase
Colorado 1.60% increase
Tennessee 1.57% increase
Arkansas 1.04% increase
North Dakota 3.68% decline, the largest reported decline

These are figures attributed to WalletHub by Jonesboro Right Now; the report does not define the unit behind the changes. They should not be read as percentage-point movements unless the underlying methodology confirms that interpretation.

What the figures do—and do not—tell homebuyers

A state average is not a personal mortgage quote. A lender’s offer depends on the borrower and the loan, so an individual rate may differ from the reported Arkansas average. The local article also compares Arkansas’s 5.13% figure with national 30-year fixed rates it says remained above 6% during 2026. The sources do not establish that the two figures use the same loan product, borrower profile, or measurement method, so that comparison is not necessarily like-for-like.

The accessible local report says the study used proprietary user data from all 50 states, but it does not provide the sample size, weighting, inclusion rules, or precise data series. Without those details, the ranking is useful as a reported snapshot of quarterly movement, not as a complete measure of what buyers in Arkansas should expect to pay.

How to compare mortgage offers

To understand the rate available for your situation, compare offers based on the same loan assumptions. WalletHub’s mortgage comparison page lets users specify location, loan amount, loan duration, and mortgage type, including fixed-rate terms and adjustable-rate mortgages; it says users are redirected to the issuing lender to apply. Offers are dynamic, so confirm current terms with the lender.
