Leeds announced Adam Underwood as its sporting director in April 2025, while the surfaced claim that Leeds were in talks with Dykes dates to 2023 and is unattributed.
What is confirmed about Leeds’ sporting director?
Leeds United announced Adam Underwood’s promotion to sporting director on 29 April 2025. The club said he would add oversight of recruitment to his existing responsibilities, including player trading, football operations, performance and medical management, and the academy. Leeds’ announcement establishes Underwood’s role and remit; it does not say the club has approached Dykes.
What is Lee Dykes’ role at Brentford?
BBC Sport identified Dykes as Brentford’s technical director in October 2025. In the same report, Underwood spoke about Brentford’s football operation and its use of data in recruitment. That professional context does not amount to evidence of Leeds interest in Dykes. BBC Sport’s report attributes praise for Brentford’s model to Underwood, not a statement about recruiting Dykes.
Where did the Leeds link come from?
A Leeds supporter-forum result from June 2023 said the club was in talks with Dykes. The surfaced post is unattributed and historical, so it cannot verify that talks occurred, much less establish a current approach. It should not be treated as equivalent to an official club announcement or dated reporting from an established news outlet. The forum discussion is the only surfaced source for that claim.

Has Leeds confirmed an approach?
No. Leeds’ news page, checked on 8 October 2026, showed club news through that date but no announcement appointing Dykes. The absence of an announcement does not rule out private discussions, and the official material does not address whether Leeds has made contact, whether Dykes would consider leaving Brentford, or whether Brentford has received an approach. Leeds’ news page is the club’s public record, not evidence about confidential recruitment conversations.
