Apple’s 2023 sales-tax holiday information covered Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee and West Virginia, but the dates and eligible products varied by state. Every window listed here has expired; these are historical rules, not current shopping advice.
Dates and Apple products by state
Apple’s product-specific eligibility was reported contemporaneously in July 2023. The state thresholds below are purchase-price limits, not estimates of how much a buyer saved. Check the relevant state’s official terms for current rules or for details beyond the summaries below.
| State | 2023 holiday dates | Apple products and reported conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Alabama | July 21–23 | Macs, iPads and accessories bought with a computer, under a $750 computer-and-accessories limit. Printers, storage media and nonrecreational software were also listed. |
| Arkansas | August 5–6 | All Mac computers, iPad models, iPhone models, printers and listed accessories. The contemporaneous summary did not state a total spending cap. |
| Florida | July 24–August 6 | Computers, accessories and other listed computer-related items under $1,500. AppleCare was included when sold with and for eligible items. |
| Missouri | August 4–6 | Computers under $1,500; listed accessories and related products under $1,500; and nonrecreational software under $350. |
| Tennessee | July 28–30 | Computers and qualifying accessories under $1,500. Accessories had to be purchased with a computer. |
| West Virginia | August 4–7 | Apple’s reported list covered iPad models under $500. |
These Apple-specific categories should not be confused with a general state holiday schedule. For instance, the Federation of Tax Administrators’ 2023 table summarized statewide categories and limits; it listed West Virginia computers and tablets up to $500, while Apple’s reported list specified iPad models under $500. The FTA table was updated November 14, 2023, and is a historical reference, not confirmation of current eligibility. See the FTA’s 2023 state schedule.
Why the state and product details mattered
A sales-tax holiday did not mean every Apple product qualified in every state. Arkansas’s reported list included iPhones, while West Virginia’s was limited to iPad models below its price threshold. Elsewhere, computer-price limits and rules for accessories or software shaped eligibility. A product category or limit in one state cannot safely be applied to another.

For the broader six-state overview and product-specific summaries, see MacRumors’ July 2023 coverage and 9to5Mac’s contemporaneous report. The latter advised checking Apple’s state-specific terms for full conditions. The Federation of Tax Administrators’ schedule is useful for statewide dates, categories and caps, but it does not replace a product-by-product eligibility list.

- Confirm that your state is holding a holiday this year and check its official start and end dates.
- Check the state’s official product categories, price limits and any rules about how accessories must be purchased.
- Confirm whether the retailer’s listed item and transaction meet those terms; a past Apple eligibility list does not establish present-day eligibility.
The 2023 information answers what was reported for those six states that year. It does not establish whether Apple products qualify under any later holiday.
