Update: This was a historical Black Friday deal from November 29, 2024. The offer is not verified as available today. Amazon’s Wi‐Fi, 64GB iPad (10th generation) was commonly listed at $259, while selected colors qualified for a clippable coupon that lowered the price to $250. Another report recorded a $249 price at Amazon.
The deal was compelling for shoppers who wanted an affordable, modern iPad—but the low price applied to a specific configuration, and 64GB can be limiting.
What the Black Friday deal included
| Detail | Offer |
|---|---|
| Model | Apple iPad 10th generation |
| Connectivity | Wi‐Fi |
| Storage | 64GB |
| Regular price cited | $349 |
| Typical sale price | $259 |
| Lowest reported price | $249–$250 |
| Retailer | Amazon, according to the cited coverage |
Engadget reported that selected colorways had an additional coupon shoppers had to clip, bringing the price to $250. TechRadar separately reported a $249 price. The difference likely reflected changing inventory, colors, coupons, and timing—not different iPad hardware.
The advertised savings were based on a $349 list price, so the lowest reported price represented roughly $99 off, or about 28%. Taxes, shipping, membership requirements, financing, and the final seller or return terms could affect the checkout total. The price should not be confused with the 256GB or cellular versions, refurbished inventory, or a third-party marketplace listing.

Why it was a good budget iPad
The 10th-generation iPad launched in 2022 with a modern all-screen design, USB‐C, and a larger display than the previous entry-level design. Its A14 Bionic chip has a six-core CPU, four-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine—enough for browsing, streaming, schoolwork, video calls, ordinary apps, and light gaming.
Apple lists a 10.86-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2360×1640 resolution, 264 pixels per inch, True Tone, and 500 nits of brightness. The tablet also includes a 12MP rear camera and a landscape-oriented 12MP Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage, which is useful for video calls.

Other features include Wi‐Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Touch ID in the top button, landscape stereo speakers, and a USB‐C port. Apple rates the battery for up to 10 hours of Wi‐Fi web browsing or video playback, or up to nine hours of cellular web browsing. Those are controlled “up to” estimates; Engadget reported 11 hours and 45 minutes in its own continuous movie-playback test, which should not be treated as a guaranteed result.
The iPad supports Apple Pencil USB‐C and the first-generation Apple Pencil. The first-generation model requires a USB‐C to Apple Pencil Adapter for pairing and charging. The tablet came with a one-meter USB‐C cable and a 20W USB‐C power adapter. See Apple’s technical specifications for the complete details.

The main catch: 64GB storage
At $250, the 64GB version was the value option. It makes sense for streaming, reading, email, web browsing, video calls, schoolwork, and buyers who rely on iCloud or another cloud-storage service.
It is less attractive for someone who downloads large games, movies, music, photos, or creative files. Storage cannot be expanded with a memory card, so the 256GB model may be the better long-term purchase if the price difference is reasonable. Paying less initially can become poor value if you quickly have to delete apps and files or upgrade.

What the buyer gives up
- Older chip: The A14 is capable, but newer iPad Air and iPad Pro models offer more performance headroom.
- Display compromises: Compared with the iPad Air, this model lacks features such as a laminated display and anti-reflective coating, according to Engadget’s comparison.
- Accessory costs: A case, keyboard, or Pencil can materially raise the effective cost of a $250 tablet.
- Cellular expense: Cellular versions cost more and still require a carrier data plan.
- Pencil friction: The first-generation Pencil needs an adapter; the compatible USB‐C Pencil is a separate purchase.
Who should buy it—and who should skip it
Buy the discounted 64GB Wi‐Fi model if you mainly want an inexpensive tablet for media, browsing, schoolwork, video calls, and casual apps, and the unit is new with a normal retailer return policy.
Choose 256GB if you expect to keep the iPad for several years, store substantial offline content, or use large games and creative files.

Consider an iPad Air or newer model if you edit video, work with large documents, draw extensively, multitask heavily, or care about a better display and longer performance headroom. The 10th-generation iPad should not be described as Apple’s latest iPad; it was introduced in 2022.
Consider Apple-certified refurbished stock if new inventory is unavailable. Apple has listed refurbished 10th-generation configurations, including 64GB Wi‐Fi models, but availability, price, warranty details, and condition should be checked on the live Apple refurbished listing.
Checkout checklist for this kind of deal
- Confirm that the listing says 10th generation, Wi‐Fi, and 64GB.
- Check whether the device is new rather than refurbished or used.
- Look at the “sold by” and “shipped by” information, especially for marketplace listings.
- Select an eligible color and clip the coupon if one is shown.
- Verify that the discount remains at checkout and check tax and shipping.
- Read the return period and warranty terms before paying.
- Budget separately for a case and any Pencil or keyboard you actually need.

Bottom line
The Black Friday 2024 deal was real, but “record-low” applied to a particular Amazon configuration and moment: the 64GB Wi‐Fi iPad 10th generation reached about $250 with a selected-color coupon, while another report saw $249. It was a strong budget option for basic tablet use, not an automatic bargain for storage-heavy users or demanding creative work. Because the promotion is historical, do not assume the same price or inventory is available now.
